Affectionately known as 'The Man with the Backbone', Danny McCormick is the State Representative for LA House District 1.

Rep. McCormick is a lifelong resident of North Caddo Parish. He and his wife (Susan) have been married for 37 years, with 2 children and 6 grandchildren. Their entire family resides in District 1 and have long enjoyed the rural lifestyle.

When the Caddo Lake National Heritage Area was brought to his community via multi-state federal legislation, threatening both personal and private property rights, Rep. McCormick decided it was time to take a stand. Along with a group of friends, Danny formed "Caddo Lake's Last Stand", fought against the federal legislation, and won.

Following that victory, and with prayerful consideration, he made the decision to run for office and won the District 1 seat in Northwest Louisiana.

Rep. McCormick is a proven fighter. Far too often, people run for office to benefit themselves, or other groups, at the expense of the people. Danny is here because the time has come to stand firm FOR the people... to protect our families, our way of life, and our future.

His grassroots movement continues to gain momentum. It has become clear that the people of Louisiana share many of the same concerns, desire the same freedoms, and are ready to stand for them!

Defending the 2nd Amendment and private property rights, along with our other Constitutional rights, is a priority to me.

I also believe that Economic Development is very important because prosperous people are free people.
We must work to lower taxes and cut government regulations, while protecting our small businesses and the working class.

I am a Christian and 100% Pro-Life.

Less government, more Liberty!

I'd suggest looking into any of the Hillsdale College Lectures and/or the Ron Paul Institute.
Every elected official should have a core set of values they do not stray from. I believe it's important for elected officials to show backbone and know what they stand for, why they stand for it, and be willing to hold the line.
I truly enjoy interacting in the community with residents, and it allows me the opportunity to organize grassroots efforts when necessary, to ensure their voices are heard. When it comes to my core set of values, I do not hesitate to boldly take a stand.
I believe in telling people the truth and restoring Tom their freedoms.
I would like to be remembered as an image-bearer for Christ, a loving husband and father, a true friend to those closest to me, an asset to my community, and a champion of Liberty for all.
I remember the Vietnam war, and seeing/hearing about combat footage on the evening news. The war continued until I was almost 15 years old.
My first job was a Summer job during my Freshman year in high school, disassembling electric motors that needed repair.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
I tend to hold myself to higher than normal expectations which can sometimes lead to "tunnel vision'. Learning balance over the years has been very beneficial.
I believe everyone brings something different and valuable to the table regardless of their background. As a lifetime small business owner, I am able to bring that perspective to legislation.
The greatest challenge we face as a state is producing a business-friendly climate, and promoting liberty in general.
The ideal relationship would be one of mutual respect and balance of power.
Yes. Relationships are important in every aspect of our lives, including politics.
I currently serve on the Insurance, Agriculture, and Commerce committees.

On the Ag Committee I have the opportunity to serve the rural residents of Louisiana and protect our way of life.

On the Insurance Committee, we are doing a lot to try and lessen the problem of surprise billing for patients, while fairly representing our medical providers. My background as a small business owner has proven to be helpful while serving on the Commerce Committee.
I have had several people mention they would like to see me run for higher office, and I am not opposed to that possibility in the future.
At one point in time, there was an elderly widow woman whose home burned down. She was unable to replace the home due to regulations that violated her private property rights and reached out to my office because she knew we would fight for her. With the help of my team, we were able to resolve her issue. It's very satisfying knowing that residents in my district can pick up the phone and be confident that my office will work hard to defend them.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Louisiana

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
