Wheat earned his bachelor's degree in medical sciences and doctorate in podiatric medicine from the California College of Podiatric Medicine. He has practiced podiatry at Abilene Foot Care Associates P.C. since 1986. Wheat also works out of several regional hospitals including Baylor Extended Care Hospital and Hendrick Medical Center. He has volunteered time with the Boy Scouts of America and as a board member on the Abilene Junior/Senior League. Wheat and his wife, Betsi, have two children who have attended district schools.[1]
