Daphne Curtis
Daphne Means Curtis was a judge for the 3rd Circuit Court in Wayne County, Michigan. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor James Blanchard and joined the Detroit Recorder's Court in 1990 (the Recorder's Court was merged with the Circuit Court of Wayne County in 1997).[1] Curtis retired from the court in 2017.[2]
Education
Curtis received her B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1972 and her J.D. degree from Wayne State University in 1976.[1]
Career
Prior to her judicial career, Curtis worked for Legal Aid and the Misdemeanor Defender's Office where she specialized in felony cases. She then practiced law with the firm of Lewis, White, Clay & Graves, focusing on civil litigation. She began her judicial career as a judge for the 36th District Court. In 1990, she joined the Recorder's Court bench.[1]
