I am a life long Houstonian, who loves Houston and is making my first political run for office. I am an independent businesswoman who has owned and operated a metal fabrication business since 1982, The Brass Maiden. My business experience is invaluable for City Council decisions on construction contracts and negotiations. I have been on commercial and residential construction sites for over 37 yrs. working alongside the contractors. My problem solving skills with client's needs and issues, will be very useful for my constiuents I have been involved with parking, neighborhood issues on transit and special district taxation for over 15yrs. I am very experienced at presenting the issues to State agencies, City Councils,County Commissioners Court, Transit Councils, City Commissions, Federal hearings, and local neighborhood meetings. I have managed money as a business owner and know when to spend and not spend, this is a concept that needs more utilization at City Council. I have a great degree from the University of Texas at Austin and am ready to use it to help Houston with our flooding, infrastructure, drainage, and neighborhood protection from over-development issues which tie into our drainage and waste water needs. It is going to take a coalition with Harris County and the Federal government to get projects done, I have experience with this and am ready to use it for District C taxpayers.
  • Get the City Budget on firmer ground.
  • Flooding and drainage, more work with the County and Federal agencies on these issues.
  • Infrastructure, rebuilding the streets and sidewalks.
Transit and taxation. Houston has plenty of money for transit, it is not utilized well enough to get people from point A to B in a reasonable time frame and a safe manner.
We need to keep our taxation of businesses in check, we need the jobs that go with the businesses. We need to keep Houston for young people and the older citizens who are living on fixed incomes.
George Washington. He was amazing to have held together the infancy of our Country with very few resources. His inspiration and ability to lead a rough group of rebels to the winning side was amazing. England was a wealthy, experienced foe to battle.
Better streets and drainage. More greenspace and trees.
Mark Twain's The Guilded Age
I have more tools for the office than they do. I have continuously worked and held together a specialty metal fabrication business through all the up and down economies of the last 37 years. I have more experience dealing with happy and unhappy people in a professional manner. I have been a hands on owner of my business, I know the reality of construction, the length of time involved and the amount of money to get the job done. None of my opponents have this experience. I am well educated on transit issues and State law on special taxing districts. None of my opponents have any of this experience.
