Daqavise Winston is a knowledgeable public servant with over six years of leadership experience in education.

Daqavise attended Ball State University where he studied History and Criminal Justice. While at Ball State, Daqavise served as an intern on Capitol Hill in Congressman Mark Takano's office and at the Indiana Statehouse with the Democratic House Caucus for Rep. Greg Porter.

Daqavise is currently an education professional at a public school.

Underlying all Daqavise's involvements has been government's unique ability to help empower citizens and solve complex social issues. His experiences in public service have been incredibly diverse, but all have the common goal of helping people. These experiences have prepared him to better serve his community.
I am extremely passionate about ending the school to prison pipeline. We must reform our school discipline policies and how we fund our schools.
A person that I admire greatly is Channel Powe, President of the Balsz School District in Arizona. She has been an effective leader for years for marginalized and underrepresented communities. She has consistently put students first regardless of the circumstances.
I think anyone who wants to understand my political philosophy better should read Unite and Conquer by Kyrsten Sinema as well as A Governor's Story by Jennifer Granholm.
My constituents are all of the people who work and live in District 2. It is important to maintain regular communication with the community and all interested parties.
There is a great need for more Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses in the district as well as programs that lead to an Associate's Degree at graduation. This will increase enrollment as well as benefit students as they prepare to enter the workforce or continue their education.
I would ensure that greater oversight is being performed during budget sessions. I would also work with our legislators to fight for increased funding for our public schools.
I would replace some of our school police officers with social workers and counselors to lower the ratio of social workers to students. I would also support increased funding to allow for staff to be provided more counseling sessions with EAP.
