Campaign themes
2017
Rood's campaign website included the following themes:
“ |
A judge must be fair, impartial, hardworking, with a deep and broad knowledge of the law. A judge must treat everyone with respect. A judge must make decisions without regard to a person’s status in the community. There must be equal justice under the law. A judge must perform her job with integrity, patience, balance, and understanding. That is how I will approach being a judge. It is how I’ve approached my work during my career. Most people don’t want to appear before a judge. But, when they do, they are there for the most important issues in their lives at that time—and sometimes they are sharing very private information in court. They want a judge with the right judicial temperament. One who will listen and be respectful. One who uses the expertise and wisdom acquired after years of life and legal work when deciding cases. They want a judge who will rule based on evidence. And, for the sake of our communities and our people, society requires a judge who can recognize when a defendant should be sentenced to prison or to the local jail with work privileges. As your Vernon County Judge, I will be tough and fair. I believe that by building on the good things happening in our County, and bringing new ideas to the table, we can be a safer, stronger community.[3][4] |
