Darfur Region Unification Referendum, 2011
The Darfur Region Unification Referendum was on the ballot on April 11, 2016, in Darfur. It was defeated.
The referendum was originally scheduled to appear on the ballot on July 1, 2011, but it was delayed.
The referendum asked voters whether the five states in Darfur should remain separate or be unified into one region. A "yes" vote supported uniting into one state. A "no" vote was a vote to remain in five separate states.
