Daria Novak was a 2016 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 2nd Congressional District of Connecticut.[1]
Novak was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 2nd Congressional District of Connecticut. Novak was defeated by Paul Formica in the Republican primary on August 14, 2012.[2]
Biography
Novak was born and raised in Connecticut.[3]

- B.A. in international affairs from the University of Wyoming
- M.A. in political science from the University of Southern California
- Graduate of U.S. Foreign Service Institute and Georgetown University’s Institute of Comparative Economic and Political Systems
- Certification in advanced Chinese language studies at Taiwan National Normal University in Taipei.
- Novak began her Ph.D. program at the University at the University of Southern California before transferring to the University of Connecticut
Career
- Founder and former president of ERUdyne, LLC[3]
- Prior to founding ERUdyne, Novak was a manager in the Technology Practice at META Group[3]
- Served as a graduate researcher for a Harvard University-based study of presidential politics[3]
- 1979-1989: Novak served in career and political positions at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., and overseas[3]
- 1989: Served as senior coordinator for the secretary of state’s 300-member China Task Force[3]
- 2003-Present: Novak has taught seminars in national security studies, Chinese politics, international relations and American politics at Eastern Connecticut State University, the University of Connecticut and at University of New Haven[3]

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Democratic. Incumbent Joe Courtney (D) defeated Daria Novak (R), Daniel Reale (L), and Jonathan Pelto (G) in the general election on November 8, 2016. No candidate faced a primary election in August. Courtnet won re-election in the November 8 election.[4][5][6]

Novak ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Connecticut's 2nd District. The signature filing deadline was June 12, 2012, with the primary taking place on August 14, 2012. Novak sought the nomination on the Republican ticket.[7] Novak was defeated by Paul Formica in the Republican primary.[2]
