Biography

Darien Barrios Moreno was born in Manzanillo, Cuba. Moreno graduated from Martinez Tomayo Brother's High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and master's degree in education from the University of Pedagogical Sciences.

Moreno's career experience includes working as a computer science teacher. He has been affiliated with the Kentucky Cuban-American Association.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Save our city, our schools, our children and society from the influence of socialism. Maintain and promote safety in our streets, schools and the lives of our voters. Promote the economic growth of the city.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Abraham Lincoln. He was the promoter of the struggle for the Emancipation of the values of full freedom of the United States.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Have a commitment to the Constitution, freedom and the values of the Founding Fathers.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Committed to your voters, listen to the concerns of those you represent.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. I was 21 years old.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I began my first years of work in 2000, in the Education System as an Computer Science teacher for High School students and adult, technical and professional.

What is your favorite book? Why?

The Bible

What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

The fight against the influence of socialism, the preservation of the values of society, freedom and democracy. The fight against the internal and external enemies of the United States and the economic growth of the country.
