Darien City Electrical Aggregation Question (March 2012)
A Darien City Electrical Aggregation Question was on the March 20, 2012 ballot in the city of Darien which is in DuPage County.
This measure was approved
- YES 2,204 (63.46%)
- NO 1,269 (36.54%)[1]
This measure sought to allow the city to aggregate electricity buying, allowing to buy it in bulk in order to obtain lower rates for residents and businesses who want to participate in the program. The city will have the power to solicit bid from companies in order to get the best rates. This measure had also been asked in April 2011, but failed by a slim margin. City officials believed the vote failed because residents were not informed about the program, so this time the city will further educate voters about what aggregation would do for the city.[2]
