EDUCATION After his initial election bid in November 2022, Darius established the Darius Mayfield Foundation, dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities and providing school choice in diverse communities while addressing transportation obstacles faced by families in underserved rural and urban areas. Since its inception, he has engaged with numerous Congressional representatives and their teams to discuss the foundation's initiatives. Darius's proposals aim to dismantle bureaucratic barriers within local educational institutions, facilitating greater access to quality education and school choice through both federal and state legislation. Empowering parents to allocate their tax dollars toward their preferred educational institution—whether public, charter, private, or religious—will shift responsibility from government agencies to parents and educators. Through "Increased Quality Educational Access" legislation, he aims to return control of children's futures to those who know them best. He will champion legislation promoting financial literacy classes, trade education, and other beneficial educational requirements. Additionally, he will advocate for measures incentivizing the establishment and expansion of trade schools within school districts, challenging the stigma surrounding nontraditional education and highlighting its substantial benefits in terms of earning potential and opportunity. Lastly, in collaboration with Congress, Darius will address the nationwide bus driver shortage by modernizing outdated CDL regulations and nurturing the next generation of drivers. All educational legislation he endorses will prioritize choice, quality, and care for students and families alike.
In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and amidst recent years of challenging economic policies, it is imperative to provide relief to small businesses and the hardworking middle class, as well as those who have been underserved. Darius is committed to spearheading efforts to make the 2017 tax cuts permanent for small businesses and everyday Americans. The heart of America's economy lies within its middle class and small businesses, and it is essential to prioritize their well-being. By making these tax cuts permanent, financial burdens can be alleviated, and the daily struggles faced by millions of Americans can be eased. It's crucial to acknowledge the significant impact of the 2017 tax legislation, which not only eliminated federal taxes for many underserved citizens but also enhanced competitiveness by adjusting corporate rates. Additionally, it addressed loopholes and facilitated record-setting tax collections. Furthermore, Darius will collaborate with Congress and the executive branch to swiftly restore America's position as a leader in energy production. Energy dominance encompasses various fields, including gas, oil, clean energy, and solar power. However, he advocates for a balanced approach that avoids undue government favoritism towards one industry over another. The focus should be on responsibly tapping into our nation's abundant energy reserves while simultaneously fostering innovation and diversification within the energy sector. Relying on oil imports from adversarial nations undermines our economic stability and national security. By prioritizing domestic energy production and exploration, inflation can be reduced, security can be enhanced, and a resilient energy policy that benefits all Americans can be established. This comprehensive strategy will not only bolster the economy but also reinforce national security and pave the way for sustained prosperity without compromising the economic well-being of citizens.
As a nation built by immigrants, whether by choice, necessity, or seeking refuge from dire circumstances, embracing our heritage as a country of immigrants is fundamental to our identity. However, it is imperative that immigration processes be conducted efficiently, fairly, and safely. Over the past three years, the nation has faced unprecedented challenges at the southern border, leaving it less secure and more vulnerable to both foreign and domestic threats. It is unacceptable for such realities to persist under the watch of elected officials, and it is essential that these issues be addressed with sincerity and urgency. To resolve this crisis, decisive action must be taken to halt and reverse the influx of illegal migration. Implementing policies such as "Remain in Mexico" as federal law and urging Mexico to deploy its military to the border are critical steps in stopping illegal migrations at their source. Collaboration with Mexico and other nations to address the root causes driving individuals to undertake perilous journeys is also necessary. Furthermore, prioritizing the deportation of recently arrived illegal immigrants, particularly violent criminals who pose a threat to communities, is essential. Empowering border patrol and law enforcement agencies to enforce existing laws is paramount to restoring order and security. Additionally, reforming the immigration system is essential to promoting legal immigration and assimilation into society. By making the process more efficient and favorable for those seeking to migrate legally and contribute positively to the nation, the integrity of the immigration system can be ensured while bolstering the economy. Working together with colleagues, Darius is committed to addressing these challenges head-on and implementing solutions that uphold the values of the nation as a country of immigrants while safeguarding borders and national security. Mayfield's campaign website stated the following:
“ |
UNITY Unity is an important issue for me personally. Why exactly? We are all Americans regardless of race, religion, political party affiliation, or whatever else our leaders try to divide us on. Unity is an issue that must be addressed among Americans and legislators alike. I am pushing for change in our discourse with our fellow citizens. I am doing everything I can to see a brighter future. In a world full of hypocrisy, truth is often easy to find, but with the climate our "leaders" have created, truth is often the enemy of reality. The Constitution notably placed few hurdles between ordinary citizens and becoming a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives. We are all Americans at the end of the day, and the racial/class division and angst the media speaks of so often is not indicative of how I grew up in this great country. We need regular people to start running for office to reflect the reality on the ground. Not the lobbyist with the best connections or the party-controlled lawyer that “talks the talk and walks the walk,” just like the Party tells them to. We no longer need those people who have the biggest black book to be our leaders, we need someone who has the biggest heart. Let me represent you.
I understand that parents know what is best for their families and that quality education is an integral part of raising happy, healthy children. Education is the great equalizer in the United States and is key to ensuring that all children in their communities, regardless of wealth or demographics, have access to the same opportunities available in our beautiful state and country. The federal government has failed to create long-term modern success in the public school system despite over 40 years of oversight and interference in local decisions and priorities. The time has come to eeturn to a model where schools are accountable to parents, not teachers' unions or agencies or politicians, for the quality and content of our children’s education. When elected, I will specifically advocate for a reduction in federal red tape and regulation that consumes time and resources and access to school choice so that parents can be empowered to make the best decisions for their children, for a removal of federal control over local curriculum, and be a strong voice against the woke culture consuming our schools and our community. As a product of school choice, I know how life changing school choice can be. When families can choose where they attend school, educational opportunities will be equalized across the community, no matter the socio-economic level of the student. This is something we should all celebrate. Furthermore, when we allow school choice, parents are empowered to demand better outcomes, and the ensuing competition will incentivize ill-performing schools to improve. I will also advocate against any federal measures to influence how your school system manages curriculum decisions. Those are decisions that should be made at the school level, where your personal voice is heard. When families have a voice, true equality of opportunity can emerge in our public school systems. It is imperative that we do everything we can to ensure that all of our children have access to a quality education to prepare them for the future, and that means empowering local parents to make decisions regarding their children’s academics.
Americans cherish our Constitution and natural-born rights. Americans do not want to be led by the World Economic Forum and its fantasies of a new world order. We are not gullible about globalist central planning schemes that will only destroy our freedoms and our sovereign free-market economy. And freedom is always the cornerstone of a free-market economy. I value freedom in my own life. I am unpaid by corporate interests. I am not controlled by lobbyists. I have no ambitions to score a cushy “think tank” gig. As your Congressman, I will expose corruption and conflicts-of-interest in the spending bill process. I will persist in making those bills stream-lined and free from globalists’ agendas. I will evaluate all line items in each federal budget for the benefit of the American People, the people of New Jersey, and small-business owners. I will thwart the interference from mega-corporations and lobbyists at the expense of the people. I pledge to oppose any bill I cannot read in full, let alone research, due to last-minute political games. The elite Marxist political class has been betraying the American people for a very long time. The difference now is that we, the people are aware of humanity’s dark urge to destroy that which is functioning and those who are peaceful and content. The failures of our political class are no accidents. They are neither mistakes nor policy blunders: Look no further than the sharp, consistent rise in the inflation rate, now at a 40-year high. We witnessed in real-time the doubling of gas prices within days of the Biden-Harris administration taking office. They shut the Keystone Pipeline. They imposed tyrannical mandates that cut production for goods, including the most basic - food. This is a classic formula of tyrants: Cripple a people so as to control them. Instead of Communism, it’s the Green New Deal. The slogans have changed but the intentions are the same. The elites need to get real: We can see what is happening and have rights that protect us. Americans need to elect leaders who can speak truth to power and guide the economy back to free-market values with its proven track record of creation, imagination, innovation, and growth. As your Congressmen, I will advocate for Congressional oversight of the National Security Strategy (NSS) from which our policies derive. I will drive the economic and financial agenda toward independence, starting with energy. Our country must return as an energy producer asap. We all saw and experienced the benefits of producing our own energy during the Trump years – lower prices throughout the supply chain and strong job growth. America needs to manufacture and produce their goods, too. We need to encourage our businesses to produce locally for greater independence. I will also personally lead the fight to preserve the strength of the US dollar. Our central bank must stop undermining its value through overprinting and excessively loose monetary conditions. Our political-banking elite is mismanaging “on purpose” so as to build back some utopia that no doubt will make a select few wealthy while depriving the people. I’m ready to support and advocate for you, the people of New Jersey, at this critical time. I’m not a trust fund baby, an Ivy leaguer, or a celebrity. I am a man from the streets of New Brunswick who loves my country because she gave me the freedom to grow and prosper. I know what works because of that love and experience. I will sponsor bills that incorporate the best economic and financial minds who wish to see America and her people prosper once again.
As an America First candidate, I believe that one of the most important rights of Americans is to feel safe, whether it be foreign or domestic. Our country is being challenged not only by Iran, but China and Russia. Domestically, we are facing a migration crisis and increased crime nationwide. All of the issues above were not happening under an America first policy; instead, these issues were created by extreme left policies pushed by my opponent, Bonnie Watson Coleman, and Joe Biden. We must act and stop weakening American security. The United States military is the greatest in the world. However, due to weak leadership by Joe Biden, many countries now desire to push for their own agendas because they know that Joe Biden will be negligent. That is what is leading to the Ukraine crisis and in the future, Taiwan. When foreign issues such as this happen, the United States government must hold our adversaries accountable while maintaining peace through strength policy. Domestically, I have personally visited the US southern border three times in the last year. That is more than Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, or Bonnie Watson Coleman. Due to open border policies, Cartels have free reign on the border to traffic people, criminals, drugs, and weapons. These cartels kill, torture, and abuse the migrants coming over, including children. They also pose a security risk to residents of our border cities. This policy creates a national security threat that affects every state in the union. This policy of open borders also brings dangerous drugs like fentanyl into our country and into our communities. These drugs wind up in the hands of our children. Addiction and overdose are common themes in our communities and schools. Rather than having a soft-on-crime approach, we must reinforce our values by backing the blue, making sure that police officers have the ability to do their job and that prosecutors do not give anyone a free pass. Further, we must eliminate the incentive to commit crimes by strengthening our economy and education system so that people do not feel the need to break the law to survive.[2] |
