A vote about whether to recall Darlene Johnson from her position as a school board member of the Plainville Unified School District in Kansas took place on August 7, 2012.[1] Johnson was recalled.

Background

In April 2012, Johnson was accused of "verbally assaulting and committing battery upon" former principal Troy Keiswetter in his Plainville High School office. Johnson denied the allegations. After Johnson was recalled, the recall committee released a statement: "The same standards of conduct the students, staff and patrons are held to also apply to all individuals, even board members. The message was sent and reinforced by the voters. No matter what status you have or believe to have, bullying at any level is not and should not be tolerated, especially in our schools. There are consequences for inappropriate actions. Now it is time to focus back on the students and look forward to the new school term."[1]
