Darnella Williams-Claybourne
Darnella Williams-Claybourne is a judge of the Michigan 3rd Circuit Court. She assumed office on March 13, 2020. Her current term ends on January 1, 2029.
Williams-Claybourne ran for re-election for judge of the Michigan 3rd Circuit Court. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Williams ran for a seat on the 3rd Circuit Court in Michigan in 2016.[1] Williams was disqualified from the ballot in May 2016 after being accused of submitting signatures that were potentially forged. She turned in 7,004 signatures, and 3,630 were deemed to be of "dubious authenticity." Candidates needed to turn in 4,000 valid signatures.[2]
Biography
Before joining the 3rd Circuit Court in Michigan Whitmer served as the deputy chief of staff for the Wayne County Executive's Office, general counsel for the Wayne County Sheriff's office, and as a professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.[3]
Whitmer earned her bachelor's degree from Wayne State University and her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.[3]
Williams served as a police officer while completing her education.[3]
Williams is married to her husband John.[3]
