The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 10, 2014; minor party and independent candidates had until June 2, 2014, to file. Rob Laas was unopposed in the Democratic primary. District 28 incumbent Roy Hollandsworth defeated Darrold Hutchinson in the Republican primary. Hollandsworth defeated Laas in the general election. Incumbent Rob Cook (D) ran in District 18.[7][8][9]
