Louisiana elections use the majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50 percent of the vote. If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.

Dartanyon Williams completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2020. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Williams' responses. Candidates are asked three required questions for this survey, but they may answer additional optional questions as well.
In a nutshell, I am a country boy, and proud of it! Like many of "US," I come from humble beginnings that originated in the Louisiana Delta, Tensas Parish ... town of St. Joseph. Affectionately, St. Joe for short. As parishioners in a rural community that is given to agriculture and the hardship compounded by meager wages, through poverty, I discovered purpose when postponed promises were blessed with economic suppression and voluntary servitude. As a child, experiencing that degree of abject poverty, I set out for a better life beyond my boundaries...
Today, I am the Founder, President, and CEO of DuckPond Technologies, Inc., and The DAW Group, LLC. DuckPond Technologies is a software development company, which holds ten (10) pending patents of disruptive technologies, including but not limited to the areas of cybersecurity, payment card fraud and identity theft prevention and payment processing security. Through The DAW Group, I offer innovative entrepreneurship analytics and methods that advance a groundbreaking entrepreneurship formula I founded and am systemizing known as Entreprenetics.
I am a serial entrepreneur, a best selling debut author, an advocate, consultant, content & subject-matter expert and authority, evangelist, public speaker, and father.
I am a servant, sacrifice, and living representation of the "marginalized-majority," even those of "us" who are judged and discounted because of our lack of leisure to the establishment that gives license to discriminate and deny in subtle measures.
I am at eye-level with my constituency, never placing myself above the very people that empower me to situate and take care of "us." Traditional politicians don't know their streets and rock roads that run up, down and across the neighborhoods of Middle-America like I do. Whether its a hood, a suburb, an exurb, the inner-city, or rural community I will be there not only to listen but to also learn and legislate according to the needs of my people.
I am not a career politician. Rather, I am a businessman with political aspirations. Therefore, my morals are not for sale to special interest groups and my values cannot be bought by PACs that pervert the political process.
Yes, Stacey Abrams's book, Lead From The Outside, is mandatory reading for anyone who endeavors to put principles to practice, faith to work, and people over politics.

1.) To abandon a personal political agenda to prioritize the needs of his/her constituents. 2.) To stay connected and committed to the people that vote you into office. 3.) To get in the ditches and trenches of all demographics to put a thumb on the pulse of the electorate and understand and accept people for who they are with a desire to better their circumstances without trying to change the person.
1.) The first historical event occurred on June 2, 1997, shortly after my high school graduation. Timothy McVeigh bombed the Federal Building in Oklahoma City. I was seventeen years old.
2.) The most tragic historical event in my lifetime was the 9/11 attack in NewYork.
3.) The election of the first African American to the Presidency of the United States in 2008.
4.) The judgment and assassination of Osama Bin Laden
Cotton Field Slave Labor - I worked in the cotton fields in Tensas Parish as a minor every summer in the sweltering heat chopping weeds with a garden hoe from the roots bases of cotton plants. Hence, the name "hoe field".
Second to the Holy Scriptures, Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (11th Edition). I chose the dictionary because words create worlds, design galaxies and construct universes.
The same that it has been for the last four hundred years, RACISM; accented by the disparities in our healthcare system and how those inequalities have exacerbated the fatal effects of COVID-19 in black and brown communities.
From the evils of racism, two other evils morphed known as classism and sexism. We must confront and dispel these "evilisms" wherever they manifest lest by collective inaction we allow the branding and promoting of these moral depravities as "American."
The U.S. Senate is grand in its purpose to govern the United States of America. Its limit to 100 seats serves as a noise filter for a lot of the political jargon that flows to and from throughout Capitol Hill. The staggering and length of terms afford senators the ability to set short term agendas, work toward longterm goals, and build lasting relationships across the aisle between primary and midterm elections.
Sure. But I also believe that any experience that's of any measure of benefit needs to be buttressed by effective representation in moving the needle for the people, not just holding office for the sake of being politically engaged but not politically involved.
I think the filibuster, understanding its original design to protract progress vs its reformative practices today, needs to be eradicated and forever cataloged in history as the hindrance to progressive policies and legislation.
Considering that our government is made up and divided by democrats and republicans, I think presidential appointees should be apolitical and registered as an Independent, not political cronies and ponds to do the president's bidding. Appointees need to have independence in thought and decision making without having to manage perverted policy peppered with prejudices and biases.
Absolutely! Relationships are concerted, designed to be reciprocal with a balance of mutual benefit. The good of the American people is the common ground upon which political parties must partner to be the vessels through God blesses America!
Whether I'm tasked with sharpening the pencils that shape sane policies and sound legislation or selected to be the minority or majority leader, I am willing and ready to serve in whatever capacity my constituents and colleagues see fit to secure and situate the best interest of my people.
Senator Barack Obama for his charisma and character
Senator Bernie Sanders for his energy and engagement
Senator Elizabeth Warren for her grit and gumption
The late Senator John McCain for his courage and conviction
