The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Dave Considine defeated Margo Miller and Peter Vedro in the Democratic primary. Ashton Kirsch defeated David Moore and Greg Petrulis in the Republican primary. Considine faced Kirsch in the general election.[6][7][8] Considine defeated Kirsch in the general election, and was elected to the seat.[9]
