Campaign website

Giles’ campaign website stated the following:

Issues – STOP Government Overreach

Safety & Security

The security of our family and loved ones is of great concern. Our government has the responsibility to keep our nation safe from threats both foreign and domestic. That is why we have the strongest military in the world to defend against all foreign powers.

The world is becoming an increasingly dangerous place. There are more threats than ever that we will have to deal with in the coming years. ISIS in the Middle East. Iran becoming a nuclear power. North Korea remains a concern in Eastern Asia. It’s ally in China continues to strengthen its military and economic power.

Having lived in the Middle East for two decades I have seen many of these threats in person. We need strong leadership in Washington to deal with these threats and to keep the strength of the United States the best in the world. It is through this strength that we are truly protected. I intend to support a strong US leadership worldwide.

Immigration & Border Security

An inadequate immigration policy and an insecure border have plagued our country for decades. It seems that every election cycle we hear candidates speak about making changes for the better. Now that we have a President who is NOT taking border security seriously. I intend to support Fellow Representatives to get the border wall secure. We should not equate illegals with those who have striven to keep our laws.

The debate on immigration policy cannot and should not begin until we have secured our borders. We will continue to have problems as long as our borders remain insecure and porous no matter what changes we make. It is time that we make border security a priority. Then, can we begin to fix our immigration policy and close the refugee loophole.

Fiscal Responsibility

NATIONAL DEBT

Like you, I am sickened to see a $30 trillion national debt run up by an out-of-control national bureaucracy. Congress must shoulder the blame along with past administrations for the financial despair that we, our children, and our grandchildren now face. A course change is demanded, and I pledge to fight the reckless spending habits of the past. I reject the notion that pacifying lobbyists and special interests’ groups is a legitimate function of Congress. These lobbyists and members of Congress are determined to spend more of your hard-earned money. But what have they done to balance the budget?

Balancing the budget and eliminating the national debt will be my top priority as a Member of Congress. I pledge to be a thorn in the side of wasteful spenders in Congress and vote against any attempt to borrow more money to accommodate bad spending practices.

Healthcare Crisis

Ever notice that your insurance premiums went sky high after ObamaCare? My opponent wants to keep ObamaCare and keep your costs up. Of course, we must insure you if you have a pre-existing condition. But let’s also repeal the burdensome ObamaCare regulations. Let’s introduce transparency so that you know the cost of your medical procedure before you get the bill. Let’s save money and buy insurance across state lines. And let’s aggressively go after Big Pharma. Together we’ll make health care affordable for everyone.

Over one million Americans each year face bankruptcy due to medical costs! Health care costs are now causing a bankruptcy every 30 seconds!

The Supreme Court ruled that Obamacare is a tax! Americans universally have been calling for the repeal of Obamacare, aka the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and replacing it with a system that is affordable. A system that is based on a free market approach that certainly lowers cost and improves care. Uninsurable procedures such as eye care and cosmetic surgery are affordable because government is not involved.

This Congress and president must overhaul the ACA (Repeal & Replace) or see families and businesses suffer needlessly with higher premiums and rationed care. This is not how President Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi presented this program. Their negligence in adopting this poorly crafted plan is crippling our nation’s health care system. Premiums are skyrocketing and companies are abandoning the ACA. President Trump repealed the Obamacare mandate, thus reducing a portion of your tax.

As your representative in Congress, I will work to return healthcare to the private sector companies such that it is competitive within a free market construct and is portable for an individual to keep their plan from job to job, location to location, across state lines, without penalty, leaving no one behind.

Additionally, you will be able to tailor specifics within your personal plan to fit your needs—no longer paying for services that you and your family don’t need or want. Most of all, you won’t be taxed!

Jobs, Economy and Accountability

Are you worried about our economy failing, losing your job or worse yet, not be able to put food on your table?

Jobs created by the federal government are the product of heavy-handed regulation and are regarded as unproductive in that they produce no goods or services desired by consumers. These government jobs are supported by burdening taxes and fees creating a financial drain on the private sector. It is free enterprise that spurs true job growth and economic prosperity, not government.

President Trump created millions of jobs in his first year in office and cut unemployment historic low levels.

The only way to keep Americans working is to get government off the back of the private sector, and I promise to continue to do just that as a member of Congress.

Veterans

How many of us have lost loved ones because of an ineffective government run medical system?

My late father, like many Americans in his generation, was a disabled World War II veteran with nine battle stars and multiple ribbons earned in the Pacific Theatre. My father lived to be 91. I am proud of my dad and every man and woman who has raised his or her hand swearing an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Our service to these veterans begins when they leave military service. We should do all we can to bless the lives of veterans and their families. Unless youn. For the last six years of my father’s life he lived with me and I understand the difficulties within the VA. We should insist that our veterans are not let down by the Veterans Administration. It is disgraceful the way the Obama administration has treated those who sacrificed so much in the service of their country. I look forward to defending our military veterans on every front as we insist that they are treated with quality care in an expeditious manner, preserving all benefits and backed up by appropriations that ensure continued care and service.

Energy Independence

As an electrical engineer and former Executive Advisor and Consultant to the Saudi Oil Minister, I have seen the good and the bad of energy policy. The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has been a failure since its creation by President Jimmy Carter in 1977. Established to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, the agency has managed to handicap domestic production of oil and gas in the transportation arena. In the electricity sector, a war has developed against nuclear and coal generation which is unnecessary and dangerous to our economy. All of these efforts by the federal government have driven prices to record highs on virtually every source of energy available to Americans.

On the bright side, we have seen renewable energy establish a foothold with traditional energy sources. Wind and solar have been added to the mix of options available for electricity, and over time, their intermittency may be cured by battery technology. Renewable energy cannot keep up with the growth America will experience in the coming decades. Traditional sources must be developed domestically for the United States to become energy independent, and that will necessitate the federal government allowing the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline and expansion of oil and gas drilling on federal lands.

In Congress, I will support the exploration and development of energy sources on American soil.

Second Ammendment

I am a Life Member of the NRA and support the second amendment. It is the Founding Fathers way of protecting our other rights under the Constitution. While the left tries to assassinate the character of those who belong to the NRA, no NRA member has ever been associated with participating in home grown violence. Not one!
We do not have a gun control problem, we have a cultural problem. Individual accountability and responsibility needs to be taught our homes as well as in our schools.
Dave is a Federal Firearms Dealer. He has an FFL07 license which allows him to buy, sell and manufacture firearms and ammunition. Dave holds the Arizona Concealed Carry Weapons permit (CCW).

Dave has the highest rating from the NRA-ILA, “A”.

Protecting All Life

The Federal Government Overreach into ABORTION may soon be over.

Are you appalled by the recently passed New York infanticide law? This is horrible. Life is the most treasured gift we have.

The United States has the highest abortion rate out of all Western industrialized nations. There are over 3,000 aborted pregnancies every day. That means that in the time that it takes you to read this paragraph, another child’s life will be ended before it even begins. This is unacceptable. What is even more unacceptable is the notion that the government pay for these abortions in any way through loopholes or subsidies, especially from Obamacare. That means that as taxpayers, we are unwittingly paying for the abortion of a child. I will work to protect all human life, especially the lives of those who cannot protect themselves.

Family First!

Taxes

Who wants to pay more Taxes?

Everyone is a stakeholder, whether we directly pay an income tax, or we indirectly pay tax through higher prices for goods and services. Less taxes trickle down to everyone.

President Trump’s recent tax reform package is trailblazing the way to reducing your taxes.

We need to continue to reduce the tax burden for all Americans and American businesses. We can do this by reducing tax rates, eliminating duplicate or overreaching taxes and any other tax not specifically voted on by Congress.

The federal government does not have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem, and I aim to cure that problem.

What would tax reform look like? One way would be increasing the standard deduction as wells as a simplification of the tax code.

Some ways tax reform may look like would be increasing the standard deduction as wells as a simplification of the tax code.

I would support a fair tax, which is a consumption-based tax, thereby ending the need for individuals and businesses to report income to the IRS as well as reducing the overall size and cost burden of the IRS to the American people.

I also support the elimination of the “Death Tax”, which will preserve our family-based businesses for future generations.

Education

Do you want a limit on you and your family’s ability to forge a better life? STOP CRITICAL RACE THEORY (CRT)! STOP 1619! STOP INDOCTRINATION!!!

In order for the United States to be competitive in the world economy in the future, we must have a quality education system that prepares our nation’s children. Education begins in the home, and I believe that parents should have the most control in helping their children succeed. The federal government should not withhold funding for bureaucratic mandates or centralized standards. We need an education system that focuses on choice, competition, and local control. Individual states should set standards on education, not the federal government.

Funding needs to get to the classroom and out of the hands of bureaucrats and administrators. Quality teachers, plentiful supplies, and competition will help our students succeed and prepare for their future. This kind of education system will firmly establish the United States as the world’s economic leader for decades to come.

There is no reference in the Constitution for the federal government to be involved in education and education should be regulated to the local school districts. [6]

  • I will fight for Your Security by fighting to build our border wall, stop the illegal magnet, advocate your safe second amendment rights, build & fortify our military and provide our first responders with all their needs.
  • I will fight for you to have Affordable Healthcare through competitive advantages offered by private business with non-government mandates. One such economy can be achieved by permitting you to choose your healthcare company across state lines. Government should never have any role in your selection of doctors, nurses or hospitals.

President Trump. He is a business leader concerned about all American people, making all of our lives more prosperous and safer. Making government accountable and responsible to the American People first.

My church pastors. They lead us into better lives and provide a clear explanation of our Bible. They also prayed with President Trump in Trump Tower. They encouraged me to run for US Congress.

Past Congressman Matt Salmon. He encouraged me to run for US Congress.
Honesty. Fighting for the American people regardless of politics or coercion from special interests groups.
I will fight hard for the people of America and Arizona supporting the conservative values that have made America the greatest and most prosperous country in the world.
I helped improve the lives of Americans, especially those in Arizona.
The assassination of President Kennedy. I was 11 years old.

Other childhood events that I remember are:
The Watts Riots in California
John Glen Friendship 7 mission
Marching Band

Ski Club
While in High School and Broome Community College, I was pumping gas in cars, changing oil and performing small auto maintenance such as mounting snow tires or replacing fan-belts.

While at Rochester Institute of Technology working on my Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering I was part of a co-op program at New York State Electric & Gas Corporation. After graduation I worked as an electrical engineer and IT analyst. I worked at NYSE&G for 6years.

I then accepted a job working overseas in Saudi Arabia for the largest oil company in the world, Saudi ARAMCO.

The House of Representatives shares equal responsibility for lawmaking with the U.S. Senate. As conceived by the framers of the Constitution, the House was to represent the popular will of the people and its members were to be directly elected by the people.
No. Abilities and desires trumps prior government experience. Government experience can be a hindrance and group think can cripple growth.

We need representatives who work for the American people rather that special interests of personal gain. Hence a government background would proliferate doing things the way in the interest of government rather than the people.
Conservative vs. Progressive - Conservatives say people should have choices. Progressives say one political solution fits all. Progressive takes away your freedom of choice. Whether it's the Second Amendment, immigration, or putting limits on abortion, if we the people don't pass laws progressives approve, they turn to judges, executive orders, and government bureaucrats behind closed doors to overturn the will of voters.

Health Care - Most Americans agree that the health care system in the United States is in need of an overhaul. What many are not in agreement on is how best to do it. We need to redirect our current system-putting patients and doctors in the driver's seat, making health care providers and insurance companies compete for customers.

Religious Freedom - The first amendment to the United States constitution begins, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." Fast forward almost 250 years and religious freedom is one of the most pressing issues in American culture today.
Veterans - My father was a WWII seaman who boarded the USS Wichita (CA45) in the state of Washington and was in every battle in the pacific push to win the war. He was in Nagasaki harbor protecting the hospital ship helping the injured Japanese from the atomic bomb devastation.

I am proud of my father and he taught me to respect an honor our military people, past, present and future. I want to provide the best health care for our veterans and all Americans.

Health care - We need to develop competitive healthcare options and keep government out of the way of our health. Especially for veterans. One such option would be to allow healthcare plans to cross state lines.

Security - Our paramount priority for federal government and individuals. We need to keep our military the best in the world while providing personal security through the second amendment.

International relations - I lived an worked overseas in Saudi Arabia for the largest oil company in the world, ARAMCO. I am familiar with international business relations and the successful operation of manufacturing and distribution.

Education - I believe in continuing education. I pursue mutilate degrees to better and diversify myself.

2016

The following issues were listed on Giles' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • National Security: The world has become an increasingly dangerous place. Meanwhile, the United States has become weaker under the leadership of President Obama. There are more threats than ever that we will have to deal with in the coming years. ISIS is increasing its strength in the Middle East and gaining allies. Iran is getting closer and closer to becoming a nuclear power while our leadership watches. The recent flawed deal between the Obama Administration and Iran is a clear example of Iran’s intentions to disregard most demands and continue their work toward nuclear weapons. North Korea, who already has nuclear capabilities, remains an unstable menace in Eastern Asia. It has a close ally in China which has continued to strengthen its military and economic power. Russia continues to threaten its neighbors after its takeover of Crimea.
  • Immigration & Border Security: Inadequate immigration policy and an insecure border have plagued this country for decades. It seems that every election cycle we hear candidates speak about making changes for the better, yet all we have heard out of Washington is amnesty. Amnesty is not the answer to this problem. Many people have been patiently waiting for legal citizenship in the United States, and they should receive priority. We should not reward those who have broken our laws along with those who have strived to keep them.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Like you, I am sickened to see an $19 trillion national debt run up by an out-of-control national bureaucracy. Congress must shoulder the blame, along with this and past administrations, for the financial despair that we, our children, and grandchildren are now facing. A course change is demanded, and I pledge to fight the reckless spending habits of the past. I reject the notion that pacifying lobbyists and special interests groups determined to spend more of your hard earned money is a legitimate function of Congress.
  • Health Care: The Supreme Court ruled that Obamacare is a tax! Americans universally have been calling for the repeal of Obamacare, aka the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and replacing it with a system that is actually affordable and based on a free market approach that certainly lowers cost and improves care. The next Congress and president must overhaul the ACA or see families and business suffer needlessly with higher premiums and rationed care. This is not how President Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi presented this program. Their negligence in adopting this poorly-crafted plan is crippling our nation’s health care system.
  • Economy and Private Sector Jobs: With much of the media as an ally, our current president has misrepresented the economic growth of the United States for the past seven years. The private sector and the middle class struggle to recover from the disastrous policies of the Obama Administration which have essentially created government jobs at the expense of private sector jobs. Jobs created by the federal government are the product of heavy-handed regulation and are regarded as unproductive in that they produce no goods or services desired by consumers. These government jobs are supported by burdening taxes and fees creating a financial drain on the private sector. It is free enterprise that spurs true job growth and economic prosperity, not government.[6]
