Phoenix works best when the City Council takes a collaborative approach to tackling tough issues.
We need to solve problems with smart solutions - not play politics.

Investing in Public Safety & Reducing Crime
From spearheading the anti-gang initiative to cracking down on crime and controlling methamphetamine, I have a proven track record of being a strong voice for public safety to reduce crime and to keep Phoenix families safe. I wholeheartedly support Phoenix's police officers and firefighters and respect their service and sacrifice. I stood with our first responders during my time on the Phoenix City Council, and I will stand with them again.

I am committed to:

Protecting current public safety funding levels
Investing in first responders
Working with neighborhood associations to strengthen block watch programs
Cracking down on graffiti, street racing and other criminal behavior
Ensuring District 1 receives their fair share of public safety funding

Promoting Fiscal Responsibility
As the economy emerges from the COVID-19 crisis, the Phoenix City Council will need to take a hard look at its budget and the impacts of a slowing economy. With dozens of factors from the rising unemployment to cancellation of the Cactus League and the tourism it generates, we know that the city is facing shrinking revenues from all sectors.

It is my commitment to you that I will be laser-focused on smart spending and fiscal responsibility.
Theodore Roosevelt.

He put America first and he believed that a strong and cohesive nation would be in the best interest of all Americans. He was one of the greatest activist for conservation and was driving force behind many of our National Parks.

Constituent Services

Quality Infrastructure
I always try to leave a place better than I found it.

I learned this, as a boy, working towards my rank of Eagle Scout.

Whether acquiring the land, for free, for Paseo Highlands park, or leading the effort for a new 100 years supply landfill, in order to close the Skunk Creek landfill, I always try to leave the place better than I found it.
My first full time job was working in construction for Bechtel, to finish paying for college. I was transferred to different jobs during my Apprenticeship, however I worked for Bechtel from 1978-1986.
I had to work my way through college. Sometimes I was working full time while attending college full time, four nights a week.

I also put in thousands of hours helping to build a family business.
The City of Phoenix uses the Council/Manager form of government. This allows the Mayor and Council members to hire a professional manager to give the residents the best possible services. The District system makes each Council member directly responsible to their local constituents.
Having been the former Councilman from 1996-2007, I know first hand what it takes to be successful in this position. I chaired the Public Safety Subcommittee from 2000-2007 and implemented many programs to reduce crime. This includes an ordinance to reduce the number of meth labs in our community. Today, meth labs In our community are a rarity.
Eduction in Public Safety is a huge benefit. My Bachelor's degree from ASU is in Criminal Justice, Summa Cum Laude.

Experience in zoning issues is critical. I was the Chairman of the Deer Valley Village Planning Committee and I solved some of the most complex zoning issues while I was in the City Council. These issues were not even in District 1.

Consensus building is also critical. This is how many of these complex issues were solved.
