An effort to recall Dave Vanaman from his position on the city commission of Millville, New Jersey, was launched in February 2012.[1] A recall election did not take place. In his position as a city commissioner, Vanaman serves as director of public safety.
Reasons for recall
Recall supporters accused Vanaman of having a conflict of interest because he was a member of the city commission and he served as the secretary of the Millville Fire Department. Robert McQuade, a former Millville special officer and commission candidate, said that he was told by the city clerk that he would not be able to serve as the director of public safety if he were to be elected. Another reason for the recall was Vanaman's decision to remove the DARE program from local public schools.[1]
Path to the ballot
Recall organizers would have needed to collect 4,000 signatures by June 1, 2012, in order to force a recall election.[1] A recall election did not take place.
