Dave Winters
Dave Winters (b. June 30, 1952) (R-Winnebago) was the Illinois State Representative for the 68th District. He was the Assistant Republican Leader.
Winters is a farmer. He served on the Winnebago County Board from 1986-1992, and the Zoning Board of Appeals from 1993-1995.
He is a member of the League of Women Voters Board, Rockford/Winnebago County Planning Commission Board, Shirland Township Clerk Board, Sinnissippi Audubon Society Board, Sinnissippi Open Space Committee Board, Natural Land Institute, and the Winnebago County Farm Bureau Board.[1]
Winters resigned in July 2012, citing his frustration with the state legislature.[2] He dismissed charges that his resignation was a scheme to give Republican candidate John M. Cabello the advantages of incumbency before the election.[3]

2010
Winters won re-election to the 68th District seat against Democrat Anthony "Tony" Viren and Green Gerry Woods. He defeated John Cabello in the Republican primary on February 2nd by a margin of 4,380 to 2,787. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[6]

On November 4, 2008, Republican Dave Winters won re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives District 68 receiving 29,728 votes, ahead of Democrat Clint Little (18,766 votes), and Gerry Woods (Green) who received 1,879 votes.[7]

The Illinois Opportunity Project, "an independent research and public policy enterprise that promotes legislative solutions in advance of free markets and free minds," annually releases its Legislative Vote Card, grading all members in both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly on the basis of their support of "pro-growth economic policies that increase personal freedom and reign in expansive government."[9][10]

Winters received a score of 62.50 out of 100 in 2012 for a grade of C- according to the IOP’s grading scale. His score was tied for the 34th highest among all 120 members of the Illinois House of Representatives included in the Vote Card.[10]
