David Armstrong was a former chairman of the Kentucky Public Service Commission. He served in this role from 2008 to 2015, when he retired.[1][2][3] On June 15, 2017, Armstrong passed away at the age of 75.[4]

Biography

An attorney by trade, Armstrong began his career in government as Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 30th Judicial District from 1976 to 1983. From 1983 to 1988 he served as Kentucky Attorney General. He went on to be Jefferson County Judge-Executive from 1989 to 1999, and mayor of Louisville from 1999 to 2003. Armstrong was serving as counsel to the law firm Greenebaum Doll & McDonald in Louisville when he was named to the KPSC in 2008.[5]

Political career

Kentucky Public Service Commission (2008-2015)

Armstrong served as a member of the Kentucky Public Service Commission from June 2008 until his retirement in 2015.[3][6] He filled the unexpired term of Caroline Clark who resigned.[6] Armstrong was re-appointed to the Kentucky Public Service Commission by Gov. Steve Beshear in 2011 to a term that expired in 2015.[7][1] His final day at the Public Service Commission was October 16, 2015. His replacement as chairman is James W. Gardner, former vice chair of the commission.[2]
