To qualify for the general election, primary write-in candidates for parties with continued statewide representation had to receive enough votes to meet or exceed the number of nominating petition signatures required to file for the primary.[3] In the 2025 special election, the Democratic, Libertarian, and Republican parties were subject to this rule.[4] Libertarian write-in candidate Andy Fernandez Jr. did not meet the required 376 minimum write-in votes, so he did not advance to the general election.[5]

Primary write-in candidates for recognized parties that did not have continued statewide representation did not need to meet a minimum vote count.[3] Eduardo Quintana (G) and Richard Grayson (No Labels Party) advanced to the general election after receiving the most write-in votes in their primaries.

A dedicated advocate for democratic principles and a candidate for the House of Representatives for Arizona's 7th Congressional District in the 2026 election. Born and raised in Tucson, AZ, I have a deep understanding of our community's needs and values.

My journey began in the late 90s when I started a snack business called "Marvin's Munchies" as a teenager. My passion for business continued to grow, and by my 30s, I owned my own land, bee farm, house, and began investing in real estate. I studied biological sciences at Northern Arizona University and learned to fly as a young teenager from my father, who was also a pilot. As a single father, I have traveled the world with my son, Nicolas, and have a big family in Tucson. With many friends and family members who have served in every major engagement since the Revolutionary War, I feel it is my duty to stand up and fight for what I believe in.

I am a beekeeper, business owner, and real estate investor with extensive experience in international beekeeping, imports and exports, and commercial food production. I have years of experience working with grow operations and commercial food production, transportation, and international agriculture laws. I have a clear understanding of imports and exports between the United States and Europe. Increasing agriculture exports from America and providing grants and programs to help young American farmers obtain farmland and knowledge are key priorities for me.
  • Support for Farmers and Infrastructure: I advocate for improved water usage and access for American farmers, supporting sustainable farming practices. Increasing agriculture exports from America and providing grants and programs to help young American farmers obtain farmland and knowledge are key priorities for me. I also aim to secure federal funding for road maintenance and improvement, collaborating with state and local governments, and promoting public-private partnerships.
  • Champion for Education and Environment: I am passionate about elevating education by expanding funding for trade schools and ensuring quality, affordable education for all. Additionally, I am dedicated to environmental sustainability, supporting policies that protect our natural resources and promote green practices.
  • Compassionate and effective immigration policy. We need to ensure our borders are respected and our laws are enforced, while also providing pathways to citizenship for immediate family members of natural-born citizens. It's crucial to stop the tragic deaths of people trying to cross the border by promoting safe and legal immigration channels. By balancing security with compassion, we can uphold our values and support those seeking a better life in the United States.
I am passionate about several key areas of public policy:

Education: Expanding funding for trade schools and ensuring quality, affordable education for all.

Environmental Sustainability: Protecting our natural resources and promoting green practices for future generations.

Agriculture: Supporting American farmers with improved water usage, access to farmland, and sustainable farming practices. Increasing agriculture exports and providing grants to young farmers.

Healthcare: Ensuring all Americans have access to affordable, quality healthcare, with a focus on emergency services in rural areas.

Immigration: Creating compassionate immigration policies that respect our laws while providing pathways to citizenship and stopping tragic border
I look up to President Jimmy Carter. His dedication to humanitarian efforts, both during and after his presidency, is truly inspiring. Carter's work with Habitat for Humanity and his commitment to peace and human rights reflect a deep sense of compassion and service. His integrity and humility are qualities I deeply admire and strive to emulate in my own public service.
I would recommend "Sanctuary of the Chosen" by Dave Hunt. This book, set during the Cold War, delves into themes of freedom, justice, and the fight against oppressive regimes. It resonates with my belief in standing up for democratic principles and the importance of integrity and courage in leadership. The story's focus on uncovering truth and challenging the status quo aligns with my commitment to transparency and accountability in government. It's a compelling read that reflects the values I hold dear in my political philosophy.
I believe the most important characteristics and principles for an elected official are:

Integrity: Upholding honesty and transparency in all actions and decisions.

Accountability: Being responsible to constituents and taking ownership of decisions and outcomes.

Compassion: Understanding and addressing the needs and concerns of all individuals, especially the most vulnerable.

Commitment: Dedication to serving the community and striving for positive change.

Vision: Having a clear, forward-thinking plan for the future and the ability to inspire others.

Collaboration: Working effectively with others to achieve common goals.

Courage: Standing up for what is right, even in the face of adversity.

Adaptability: Embracing the ability to change so I can make meaningful change in society.
I possess several qualities that I believe would make me a successful officeholder:

Integrity: I am committed to honesty and transparency in all my actions, ensuring that I always act in the best interest of my constituents.

Empathy: I have a genuine concern for the well-being of others and strive to understand and address the needs and concerns of the community.

Dedication: I am deeply committed to public service and willing to work tirelessly to achieve positive outcomes for the people I represent.

Resilience: I have the ability to navigate challenges and setbacks with determination and a positive attitude.

Collaboration: I believe in the power of working together and building strong relationships with colleagues, constituents, and stakeholders to achieve common goals.

Vision: I have a clear vision for the future and the ability to set and pursue long-term goals that benefit the community.

Problem-Solving Skills: I am able to analyze complex issues, develop practical solutions, and make informed decisions.

Communication: I can effectively communicate ideas and listen to others, ensuring that all voices are heard and considered.
Representing Constituents: Listening to and advocating for the needs and concerns of the people in the district.

Legislating: Crafting, debating, and voting on laws that benefit the community and the nation.

Oversight: Ensuring government agencies and officials are acting in the best interests of the public.

Community Engagement: Staying connected with constituents through town halls, meetings, and other forms of communication.

Policy Advocacy: Championing policies that promote economic growth, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.

Ethical Leadership: Upholding integrity, transparency, and accountability in all actions and decisions.

These responsibilities guide my commitment to serving our community effectively and making a positive impact.
As David Matthew Bies, I would like to leave a legacy of positive change and meaningful impact on our community. I aspire to be remembered as a dedicated public servant who consistently put the needs and concerns of the people first. My goal is to advocate for policies that improve access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for all. I also aim to inspire future generations to engage in public service and contribute to the betterment of society.

Additionally, I want to be known for uplifting American farmers, recognizing their vital role in sustaining our nation, and supporting initiatives that ensure their success and sustainability. I believe in the power of second chances and want to demonstrate that reformed citizens deserve the opportunity to reintegrate into society and positively contribute. By championing these causes, I hope my legacy reflects a commitment to justice, equality, and making a tangible difference in the lives of those I serve.
September 11, 2001. I was young at the time, but the impact of that day left a lasting impression on me. I recall the profound sense of unity that swept across the nation, with people coming together to support each other during such a challenging time. American flags were displayed everywhere, symbolizing our collective resilience and patriotism. This experience shaped my understanding of the importance of community and solidarity in the face of adversity.
My very first job was as a lab tech at Skyline Assayers & Laboratories in Tucson, AZ. Working in a geochemistry laboratory, I was involved in analyzing geological samples and learning about the intricate processes of mineral and chemical analysis. I worked there for a couple of years, and this experience gave me a solid foundation in scientific methods and attention to detail. It also sparked my interest in understanding the natural world and the importance of accurate data in making informed decisions. I enjoyed the hands-on experience and the opportunity to work with knowledgeable professionals in the field
my favorite book is "Sanctuary of the Chosen" It has endless twists, and a powerful story that has made it my hands down favorite for years!
I would choose John Wayne's iconic cowboy persona, The Duke. I admire the tough, rugged hero who always finds a way to make things right. John Wayne's characters embody resilience, justice, and a strong moral compass. Despite the hardships and challenges, they stand tall and fight for what is right, often bringing a sense of hope and resolution to those around them. The blend of rugged determination and unwavering integrity is truly inspiring. This character reflects the ideals of bravery, perseverance, and the enduring quest for justice—qualities I strive to uphold in my own life and work.
The last song that got stuck in my head is John Denver's "Country Roads," but I have a fun twist—I sing it as "Arizona" instead of "West Virginia."
One of the most significant struggles in my life has been raising my son as a single parent. Balancing the demands of providing, nurturing, and guiding him while trying to fill all parental roles has been incredibly challenging. The journey has required immense strength and resilience, but it has also been profoundly rewarding. Ensuring that he feels loved, supported, and valued has always been my top priority. Despite the difficulties, this experience has taught me the true meaning of unconditional love and the importance of perseverance. It has shaped me into a more compassionate and determined individual, always striving to create a better future for my son.
The U.S. House of Representatives possesses several unique qualities that distinguish it as an essential institution in our government:

Proportional Representation: The House represents the population of each state proportionally, ensuring that the voices of the people are heard. This means that more populous states have a greater number of representatives, reflecting the diversity and interests of the nation.

Frequent Elections: Members of the House are elected every two years, which keeps them closely connected to their constituents' needs and concerns. This frequent turnover encourages responsiveness and accountability.

Legislative Powers: The House has significant legislative authority, including the power to initiate revenue bills and impeach federal officials. This gives it a crucial role in shaping national policy and holding government officials accountable.

Diverse Membership: The House often includes a wide range of backgrounds, professions, and perspectives, which contributes to robust and varied debate on important issues.

Committee System: The House's use of specialized committees allows for detailed examination and discussion of legislation, ensuring that bills are thoroughly vetted before they reach the floor for a vote.

These qualities make the House of Representatives a dynamic and responsive body that plays a vital role in our democracy
I believe that having previous experience in government or politics can be beneficial for representatives, but it's not the only path to effective leadership. Experience can provide valuable insights into the legislative process, policy-making, and navigating the complexities of government. It can also help build relationships and networks that are crucial for getting things done.

However, fresh perspectives from outside the political sphere are equally important. Diverse backgrounds bring new ideas and approaches to solving problems. What matters most is a representative's commitment to serving their constituents, their integrity, and their ability to listen, learn, and adapt. Balancing experience with fresh perspectives can lead to more innovative and effective governance.
Economic Inequality: Bridging the gap between the wealthy and the poor to ensure everyone has access to opportunities and resources.

Climate Change: Addressing environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices to protect our planet for future generations.

Healthcare Access: Ensuring that all Americans have access to affordable, quality healthcare.

Education Reform: Improving our education system to better prepare our children for the future.

Immigration Policy: Creating fair and compassionate immigration policies that respect our laws and provide pathways to citizenship.

Political Polarization: Finding common ground and fostering unity to address the nation's challenges effectively.

Artificial Intelligence Technology: Navigating the rapid advancements in AI technology to ensure it is used ethically and responsibly, while also leveraging its potential to drive innovation and improve quality of life.
Yes, I believe that a two-year term length for representatives is appropriate. This short-term length ensures that representatives remain closely connected to their constituents and are continuously responsive to their needs and concerns. Frequent elections promote accountability and give voters the opportunity to make changes if they feel their representative is not performing well. While it can lead to a constant focus on campaigning, the benefits of maintaining a dynamic and responsive House of Representatives outweigh this challenge. The key is to balance accountability with the ability to focus on substantive work.
I believe term limits are crucial for a healthy democracy. They prevent power from becoming too concentrated and bring in fresh ideas. While experienced leaders are valuable, limits ensure accountability and encourage new voices. It's about balancing continuity with the need for change, keeping our government dynamic and responsive. Thank you for considering this perspective.
I have always admired John F. Kennedy for his visionary leadership and commitment to public service. His inspiring message of hope and progress resonated with millions and continues to be a beacon of what leadership can achieve. JFK's dedication to civil rights, his emphasis on space exploration, and his efforts to foster international peace showcased his ability to address complex issues with a forward-thinking approach. His famous call to "ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country" embodies the spirit of civic duty and engagement that I strive to emulate in my own political journey. JFK's legacy of courage, integrity, and service remains a profound source of inspiration for me.
one of the most impactful stories I've encountered happened years ago when my son was just two years old. I was driving near the Navajo Nation when I came across a man walking along the side of the road. He shared that he was walking over 20 miles to get baby formula for his sister's newborn. This encounter profoundly moved me. Despite the hardships he faced, his determination to support his family was unwavering. This story has stayed with me as a powerful reminder of the challenges that many in our community endure and the resilience and strength they possess. It fuels my commitment to advocate for policies that improve access to essential resources, healthcare, and support for all families, ensuring that no one has to go to such lengths for basic necessities.
Why did the scarecrow run for Congress?

Because he was outstanding in his field and thought he could finally bring some brains to the table!
Compromise is both necessary and desirable for effective policymaking. In a diverse society with a wide range of views and interests, reaching consensus often requires finding common ground. Compromise allows for the creation of policies that are inclusive and representative of different perspectives. It fosters collaboration and helps build trust among lawmakers and constituents. While it may require concessions, compromise ultimately leads to more balanced and sustainable solutions that can address the needs of a broader population. Thank you for considering this perspective.
The power to originate revenue bills in the House is crucial for ensuring that the needs and priorities of our constituents are directly addressed. This power allows us to craft legislation that reflects the economic realities and aspirations of the people we represent. If elected, I would prioritize using this authority to advocate for fair and equitable tax policies, ensure adequate funding for essential services like education and healthcare, and promote economic growth and sustainability. By leveraging this constitutional power, we can create a more just and prosperous society that benefits all Americans.
the U.S. House should use its investigative powers to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity within the government. These powers are essential for uncovering wrongdoing, ensuring compliance with laws, and holding public officials and institutions accountable. The House should prioritize investigations that address issues of public concern, such as corruption, misuse of public funds, and violations of rights. By thoroughly examining these matters, we can uphold the principles of democracy and protect the interests of the American people. These investigations should be conducted with fairness, objectivity, and a commitment to uncovering the truth, ultimately strengthening the trust between the government and its citizens.
Agriculture Committee: Given my background in beekeeping, farming, and real estate, I am passionate about supporting American farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture practices.

Education and Labor Committee: I believe in expanding funding for trade schools and ensuring quality education for all. Serving on this committee would allow me to advocate for policies that elevate our education system and support workers' rights.

Energy and Commerce Committee: With a commitment to environmental sustainability, I am interested in working on policies that protect our natural resources and promote green energy solutions.

Ways and Means Committee: Addressing economic inequality and healthcare access are priorities for me, and this committee oversees issues related to taxation, trade, and social programs.

Homeland Security Committee: Ensuring border security while promoting compassionate immigration policies is crucial. Serving on this committee would allow me to contribute to creating fair and effective immigration laws.
I firmly believe that financial transparency and government accountability are cornerstones of a healthy democracy. Transparency ensures that citizens can see how their tax dollars are being spent and hold their elected officials accountable for their actions. It builds trust between the government and the people, fostering a sense of integrity and responsibility.

Government accountability means that officials must answer to the public for their decisions and actions. It involves rigorous oversight, ethical behavior, and a commitment to serving the best interests of the community. By promoting transparency and accountability, we can create a more just and effective government that truly represents and serves its people.

I have lived and worked in Arizona most of my life. I was born in Tucson and come from a hardworking blue collar family. I have seen up's and down's like many of my fellow citizens. I have worked in agriculture and labor jobs most of my life. Some of my best memories are of riding horses, dirt bikes baseball and family dinners. I was raised to respect all people and do my part to make the world a bit easier and better for myself and others around me. I am now a single parent and live in a rural small town. I have traveled the world and focused on agricultural imports as a means to create jobs and provide for my small family. I am a Catholic and hold my beliefs close to my heart. I will never impose my beliefs on others. I am running for office to represent the people of our district not dictate how one should live. I see the division of both sides in politics. I have faith in people of Arizona. We can and will choose a person who has had the same hardships and triumphs as us. We can bring back civility to politics. Arizonian's have a special gift of noticing a person's or media's predetermined narrative and making the right choice, this is why I believe I am the best candidate that will be a true representative of our district. I have hiked and worked all over our district and own land across our great state. I want to do my part to help heal our country while preserving our best past times for future generations.
  • I am going to do everything in my power to increase the quality of life for the people of our district. I do not want one person in our district to worry about water, roads and unstoppable fires. We need to work hard to make our district more money, jobs and create a safe environment for ourselves and our children.
  • I will never infringe on ones rights, I believe if someone is infringing on the first amendment rights it's only a matter of time before they come after the second amendment.
  • I believe a person has the right to choose how they live, eat, sleep and drink. I do not believe in lawmakers making choices that a doctor should make.
I am passionate about not telling one how to live and how to act. I believe we all come from different backgrounds and no matter how one lives they have unique qualities that contribute to our society. I believe government has no right to micromanage citizens and or to guide the people with a predetermined narrative.
I look up to many people during different times of my life. I will be happy if I turn out to be like my father was. Strong and always willing to pull over and help a person out.
Empathy, ability to read, being understanding of all people even if you do not agree.
I am a man of the people and I truly understand how challenging life can be and how hard it is to overcome difficult times. I will represent the interests of all the people of our district because I have lived and walked in their shoes.
Fulfilling the promise's made to the people who elected them.
Unity over division, a new chapter for regular people to become involved in politics. Change from a two party deadlock.
9/11 I was 15 years old and remember how the world changed. I remember how we all were scared and in shock. I also remember the aftermath and patoric pride of every American after. Everyone had flags flying and we all swore this can never happen again.
Lab tech for skyline laboratory. I held this job for a few years.
I read a lot of books so it would be a long list. I love the harry Potter books, I love lord of the rings and books like it because I feel like it takes my imagination to a place I could never achieve by reading non fiction books but I love any good story.
The letter of the day by sesame street is stuck in my head because my son is 7 but my last song I listened to is country roads by John Denver.
Rasing a child by myself. Just doing small tasks can become difficult. Finding work around being a full time parent but still being able to put food on the table. The most amazing, rewarding thing one can do is having a child but it is very difficult alone.
The short term limits and constant pulse on the people of America is what make the house of representatives such an amazing institution.
No, I believe we are lacking new ideas and people with no government background are more beneficial to the evolution of our political systems.
Overcoming the challenges of new technology and humans being replaced in the work force. We need to always be thinking, if a job is lost or changed from evolving technology how can we create different jobs to keep the status quo. I also believe we will always have a target on us for being a free people and we need to become more united in order to protect ourselves from outside influence.
Yes, Our founding fathers understood that the house is close to the people and the Senate is the steady hand.
I believe in term limits for all government officials. I think term length is different then term limits. One should serve the people not make a career of one position.
There are so many but as a person born and raised in Arizona I have always respected John McCain.
I met a person from the navajo nation years back that was walking 20 miles to the store to get his baby sister some formula and water. This made me understand the difficult tasks many face in rural areas and food desert's, especially those on or around the reservations.
The opposite of “pro” is “con,” so the opposite of progress is … Congress
I do believe that in order to get work done we have to always be willing to compromise. we also need to make sure it reflects who we represent.
We I can see how many politicians would use this to benefit the interests of the district they represent but I do not believe we need the same old politics. I would do what's right for our district first and fulfill the job I am elected to do with no strings attached.
