Candidate Connection

David Bogner completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Bogner's responses.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

My top three priorities when elected are stopping and fixing the pollution in Lake Okeechobee and protecting Florida's environment, fixing Florida's education system and ensuring the high quality of Florida's public schools, and bringing government back to the people and working for the best interests of those I represent.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am most passionate about protecting the environment. I am an Eagle Scout and grew up by the water. I love going out and exploring nature and moving back to the beach is one of the reasons why I moved to Southwest Florida. Bad environmental policies have hurt our health and economy and I want to fix what has been done and protect the environment for generations to come.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

I look up to my father. From him I learned that if you have the ability to help someone, you do it. He has volunteered with and donated to religious organizations, community organizations, and is always willing to help a person in need whenever he can. Probably most importantly, he taught me that you help because it is the right thing to do, not because you expect to get anything out of it.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

A good elected official is honest in what they do and what biases or conflicts of interest they have. A good elected official works for those who voted for them more than those special interests donated to their campaigns.
