David Brown is an at-large member of the West Des Moines Community Schools School Board in Iowa. He won re-election to his seat in the general election on September 8, 2015. He defeated Milton Cole, Michele Dahlen, Judy Jesse and Andi Lipman.[1][2]

Brown is the vice president of compliance at Principal Financial. In addition to the school board, he has served on the board of directors for Youth Emergency Services & Shelter and Hospice of Central Iowa. He also participated in the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute. Brown obtained his bachelor's degree from Lawrence University. He went on to earn his law degree from the University of Iowa.[3]

Four of the seven seats on the West Des Moines Community Schools School Board were up for election on September 8, 2015. The available seats represented the district at-large.

Incumbents Milton Cole and Andi Lipman were defeated in the election. Incumbent David Brown retained his seat. Candidates Liz Cox, Melinda Dunnwald and Jill Johnson won the seats of Cole and Lipman as well as the open seat left by incumbent Kevin Carroll who did not run for re-election. Candidates Michele Dahlen and Judy Jesse were also defeated in the election.[4][5][6]

Funding

Brown reported no contributions or expenditures to the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board in the election.[7] Any candidate spending, receiving or incurring debt in the amount of $1,000 or less was not required to file the disclosure form for campaign finances.[8]
