Kansas: On April 15, 2011, Gov. Sam Brownback appointed David E. Bruns to the Kansas Court of Appeals. Bruns has served on the Kansas 3rd Judicial District Court since 1999 and worked previously as a civil litigation lawyer for 15 years. Gov. Brownback commended him, saying, "Judge Bruns has been an author, a professor, a lecturer and an active member of his community. His many accomplishments speak to the depth and breadth of his expertise and knowledge." Bruns will fill the vacancy left by Justice Nancy Moritz when she was appointed to the Supreme Court.

Bruns is a graduate of the University of Kansas (1981) and the Washburn University School of Law.[1][2]
