David C. Tomlinson is a judge of the St. Joseph County Probate Court in Michigan. He was elected on November 6, 2012 to succeed Thomas E. Shumaker, effective in January of 2013. His current term expires in 2018.

Education

Tomlinson received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University. He earned his J.D. from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law.[1]

Career

Tomlinson practiced law for 34 years prior to becoming a judge in early 2013. He started his own private practice after graduating from law school. In addition, he spent eight years as a Circuit Court Referee for St. Joseph County, and also worked as a mediator for the Circuit Court and Probate Courts for St. Joseph County. He also worked as a mediator for domestic relations cases in Branch County and a prosecuting attorney for the Villages of Colon and Burr Oak.[2]

2012 election

Tomlinson advanced from the primary election, winning 29.72 percent of the vote. He defeated Christine Yancey in the general election on November 6, winning 53.68 percent of the vote.[3][4][5]
