David Catalfamo (Republican Party, Conservative Party) ran for election to the New York State Assembly to represent District 113. He lost in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Catalfamo is a Republican political consultant in the state of New York. He advised George Pataki's 2016 presidential campaign.[1] Catalfamo previously worked as the director of communications for George Pataki when Pataki served as governor of New York.[2] He is the managing director of Park Strategies, a public policy consulting firm in New York.[3]

Career

David Catalfamo began working in New York politics as legislative director in the New York State Senate from 1989 to 1994.[4] He has worked in the private sector as a communications consultant with the Dilenschneider Group, Capitol Public Strategies and Park Strategies. Catalfamo was also the communications director to George Pataki's office during his tenure as governor. While there, Catalfamo worked as "a senior advisor to the governor on strategy, public policy, budgetary and political matters, and oversaw the State's crisis communications."[3]

Catalfamo also worked for the Empire State Development Corporation with the "I Love New York" campaign.[3] Catalfamo oversaw the campaign after the September 11 terrorist attacks. He later noted that the campaign was instrumental in inspiring tourism after September 11: "[W]hen it came time to restart tourism and tell the world that New York was safe and to come back – it was 'three simple words' that said it all, ILOVENY."[5]

George Pataki presidential campaign, 2016

On May 28, 2015, George Pataki announced his presidential bid via a video posted on his campaign website, before speaking to a crowd of supporters in New Hampshire.[6][7]

As of June 2015, the campaign had not announced any staff hirings. However, Catalfamo acted as Pataki's spokesperson during the exploratory phase. In December 2014, Catalfamo told The Observer: "Right now, [Mr. Pataki’s] been focussed [sic] on what he sees going wrong on a national level. He believes the party needs to energize and focus on those core issues. Fundamental change in the ways that Washington has encroached into the lives of Americans."[8]

Pataki suspended his presidential run on December 29, 2015.[9]
