Dinwiddie made a bid for Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas in 2014. He sought the Libertarian nomination at the party's annual convention on February 22, 2014, but lost to Chris Olson.[1] The general election took place on November 4, 2014.

Dinwiddie ran in the 2012 election for the Arkansas Senate, representing the 25th District. He ran unopposed in the May 22 Libertarian primary and was defeated by incumbent Stephanie Flowers (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]

Dinwiddie ran as a write-in candidate for Governor of Arkansas in 2010.

Dinwiddie has stated the following: "Tax Breaks don't lower taxes because they will just make it up somewhere else. Cutting Spending does not eliminate waste because, what gets cut is not what's wasteful. What gets cut is that with least resistance. Example 2011 when they cut funding to foster kids."
