David Dye (Democratic Party) (also known as Jeff) ran in a special election for the Division B judge of the Orleans Parish Civil District Court in Louisiana. He lost in the special primary on March 25, 2023.

Biography
David Dye was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He earned a bachelor's degree from Memphis State University in 1991, a graduate degree in environmental management from Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment in 1992, and a law degree from Tulane University School of Law in 2001. His career experience includes working as a lawyer. He also previously worked as an environmental scientist and manager of environmental affairs.[1]

If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.

- I am running for Judge in Division “B” because I care about and want to promote greater public confidence in the Civil District Court. The court plays a vital role in the lives of every person, organization, and business in Orleans Parish. Each person going to court should expect equal treatment under the law and to have a judge that correctly interprets the facts and applies the law in a way that promotes justice. I plan to fulfill these expectations through diligent, full-time work and developing a detailed understanding of the issues present in each case. I plan to assist the court in meeting its current and future challenges, including courthouse upgrades and emerging legal issues critical to the future of New Orleans.
- As District Judge, I will work diligently every day to ensure my courtroom operates efficiently and professionally with the utmost respect for all parties, attorneys, and witnesses. I will be prepared and consistent and will decide matters impartially based upon the facts, procedural rules, and the law. Every day, my courtroom will operate with a commitment to excellence and to equal treatment for all parties.
