David G. Greenfield
David G. Greenfield was a Democratic member of the New York City Council in the state of New York, representing District 44 from 2010 to 2017.[1] He opted to take over the nonprofit Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty rather than run for re-election in 2017.[2][3]
Because Greenfield announced his withdrawal from the race after the candidate filing deadline, he was able to choose a candidate to replace him on the 2017 ballot. He selected Kalman Yeger, who originally filed to challenge cousin-in-law Chaim M. Deutsch for the District 48 seat on the city council.[2][4][5]
Biography
Greenfield holds a B.S. from Touro College and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center. His professional experience includes working as an attorney and serving as the Executive Vice President of the Sephardic Community Federation .[1]
Elections
2017
New York City held elections for mayor, public advocate, comptroller, and all 51 seats on the city council in 2017. New Yorkers also voted for offices in their boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.
Primary elections were scheduled for September 12, 2017, and the general election was on November 7, 2017. Under New York law, candidates who run unopposed in a primary or general election win the nomination or election automatically, and their names do not appear on the ballot.[6] David Greenfield filed to run in the Democratic primary for the District 44 seat on the New York City Council but withdrew his candidacy after the filing deadline. He selected Kalman Yeger to replace him on the District 44 ballot.[2][5]
