David Gillespie
David Gillespie was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 26 of the Alaska House of Representatives. Gillespie was selected to replace Bill Goodell on the general election ballot after Goodell withdrew from the race after the primary.

Birch campaigned against the 83-year-old Lynn by saying the legislature needed "new energy," and asserted that the representative should retire. Birch is 65 years old. Lynn received backing from a new Alaskan political group, "Together for Alaska," but was not able to secure the victory in the primary election.[5][6]
2014
Elections for the Alaska House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 19, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Bill Goodell was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while District 23 incumbent Bob Lynn was unopposed in the Republican primary. Lynn defeated Goodell in the general election.[7][8][9][10]
