David Campos Guaderrama is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. He joined the court in 2012 after a nomination from President Barack Obama.

Guaderrama assumed senior status on May 27, 2023.[1]

Early life and education

A native of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Guaderrama earned his bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University in 1975 and his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1979.[2]

Guaderrama was nominated by President Barack Obama on September 14, 2011, to a seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas vacated by David Briones.[3]

The American Bar Association rated Guaderrama Substantial Majority Well Qualified, Minority Qualified for the nomination. Hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee were held on November 2, 2011 and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) on December 1, 2011. Guaderrama was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on April 26, 2012, and he received his commission on April 30, 2012.[2][4][5]
