David Hanschen filed paperwork with the Texas Board of Elections to run for a seat on the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals in the 2016 elections. He was defeated in the primary by David Schenck.[1]

Previously, Hanschen was a 2014 candidate for the 301st District Court in Texas.[2]

He was formerly a judge of the 254th District Court, but he lost re-election to James Martin in 2010.[3] In 2012, he unsuccessfully ran for the Fifth District Court of Appeals.
