David "Dave" Jordan was the Republican Place 2 judge for the Circuit 21 in Alabama, serving Escambia County. He was appointed to the court by Gov. Robert Bentley (R) on July 2, 2014, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Bradley E. Byrne. Jordan won election to a full six-year term in the general election on November 8, 2016.[1] He retired on August 1, 2020.[2]

Jordan previously served as a district court judge for the Escambia County District Court from 2003 until his appointment to the circuit court in 2014.[3]

Education

Jordan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in 1981 and his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1984.[1]

Career

From 2003 until his appointment to the 21st Judicial Circuit Court in July 2014, Jordan served as a district court judge for the Escambia County District Court. Before his judicial career, he was a partner at the law firm of Otts, Moore, Jordan & Coale in Brewton, Alabama. He also previously practiced with the law firm of Sintz, Campbell, Duke, Taylor & Cunningham in Mobile, Alabama and served as a law clerk for Edward B. McDermott of the Mobile County Circuit Court.[1]

Alabama held general elections for local judicial offices in 2016. A primary election took place on March 1, 2016, with a primary runoff on April 12, 2016. The general election was held on November 8, 2016.

Incumbent David Jordan defeated Jim Hart in the general election for the Alabama 21st Judicial Circuit Place 2 seat.[4]
