David C. Keesler is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. He was first appointed to this position on April 30, 2004.[1] His current term expires on April 29, 2028.[2]

Education

Judge Keesler received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984 and his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1987.[3]

Career

Judge Keesler began his career in 1987 as a law clerk to Justice Louis Meyer of the North Carolina Supreme Court. He then became an Assistant District Attorney in Charlotte. After four years, he was elevated to Assistant U.S. Attorney. He worked in this position for over five and a half years. He then joined the law firm Moore & Van Allen, where he practiced as a litigation partner until his judicial appointment in 2004. During his time with this firm, he also worked as an legal analyst for WBTV News and ESPN.[3]
