2017

Lande's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Economy & Education

  • The most significant issue in New Jersey is the economy. A working and educated work-force is crucial to solving the State’s financial woes. It took the Christie/Guadagno administration 8 years to bring us to the brink so no one should expect a quick fix but we will rebuild our economy in stages with a focus on the long term. I am focused on ways to grow the economy to ensure economic prosperity now and in the future without raising property and other taxes.

Veterans

  • As a military veteran who served in an airborne infantry unit, I have seen up close the faces of those called upon to defend our country and our way of life particularly in time of war. Many veterans leave active duty broken and with special needs. We can and must do more to help them.

Agriculture

  • I will be an advocate and a voice for New Jersey farmers and to bring to the forefront the challenges they face relating to global competition, labor supply and housing, wage rates, excessive environmental regulations, farmland assessment and taxation issues, wildlife management, and many others. For starters, I will oppose raising the minimum wage unless the agricultural industry is exempted since profit and sales rely on market pricing rather than cost plus pricing. I will seek to de-regulate the agricultural industry in order that New Jersey farmers can compete and participate in the clean energy/green economy. I will work to grow the farm-to-school network which benefits both our farmers and our children, and directly takes aim at the growing epidemic of child obesity.

Marijuana Legalization

  • I support a requirement that a portion of taxes raised through legalization be used toward drug and alcohol treatment and education. Critical resources are needed to combat opioid addiction and abuse so it is imperative that a portion of taxes raised from the sale of marijuana are allocated for that specific use. Drug education is also imperative and can be approached two ways; one utilizing law enforcement and one as determined by the New Jersey Department of Education.

Gun Control

  • The 2nd Amendment gives individual citizens the fundamental right to own and bear arms for purposes of self-defense. The United States Supreme Court has affirmed this right. As a former gun owner which I used for target shooting and home protection, I support the individual right to own firearms and oppose stricter gun control legislation.[7]
