Hi, my name is David Allan Lara and I’m running for city council district 9. I have lived in San Antonio my entire life. I have completed over 3 1/2 years of research working in the Bexar county Justice Center and in the Courthouse, where I’ve had an opportunity to speak with several other judges and district attorneys, about our justice system. I will not play the political games of confusing double talk and making make empty promises. what I will do if elected is: represent the residents of district 9, and the community of San Antonio on the concerns from the citizens and not for personal interest or political gain. This is why I’m here. To be your voice with honesty and integrity.
  • Crime, City energy, water supply, road construction to handle the growth of our city, education also along with school safety, homelessness issues, reduction in property taxes, and bring in new companies to San Antonio to create more jobs. Responding to the needs of the community. Being the voice for the concerns of the community in my district and also the city. To ensure that all concerns are treated fairly on the council board.
  • The police department is doing the best job possible on crime prevention and protecting the citizens of San Antonio. Texas is number 2 in having the stiffest laws against crime in the United States. The issue is not so much policing more, but eliminate early release due to overcrowding in our Texas prisons. I would encourage the mayor, council, and the citizens to contact legislation in Austin to pass a bill for more funding to expand and build new prisons. Also creating more jobs.
  • More frequent contact and meetings between the city council and county officials with the state legislators. Also create more efficient resources for energy, water, education, health care, and public safety. To re-examine each one of these topics and create funding for improvement of services.
Community Question Featured local question
No, I would not change my approach to the local policies issued. The county judge at the time ( Nelson Wolfe) along with the mayor of San Antonio, did an excellent job of taking the proper precautions to protect the Residents of San Antonio. Even executing extra safe measures beyond what the state was recommending.
Community Question Featured local question
The crime rate is definitely changing, and it has increased. I received the crime data direct from the county courts by the number of cases. It has been increasing, criminal and civil cases. The changes I would make is to Implement stricter regulations on early release procedures. Some criminals are released almost as fast as it takes to go through the booking process. They need to be held accountable for their criminal actions.
Community Question Featured local question
San Antonio’s been known mostly as a tourist vacation destination with several tourist attractions, hotels and also restaurants for conventions but we do have a homeless issue in the downtown area. I would want to conduct research and providing fund for low-cost living facilities, evaluate the homeless special needs for medical care, and help the individuals that can work with job placement according to their skills. Help them develop skills of trade.
Community Question Featured local question
It is the most important topic that all registered voters in resident to be involved in the decision making for they are the people and that is any politician is supposed to be representing. The elected official is the voice of the people. My plan to get more citizens involved is to have meetings, available question forms through mail and Internet so residents could participate in the decision making.
Community Question Featured local question
My policy on this issue is to mandate the record requests to be easily accessible to the public. For all the citizens of San Antonio. it would also strengthen the accountability.

Community Question Featured local question
No I would not consider gentrification or displacement when it comes to planning neighborhood development. Several things would need to be researched such as infrastructure along with adequate and safe access to neighborhoods and businesses.
Community Question Featured local question
I would set priorities by the demand of the residents of district 9, if it pertains to District issues. Top priority would be crime, school safety, property, taxes, homelessness, and infrastructure. Communication and keeping an open door policy with the residence is a key to handle all issues that are brought to the table.
Community Question Featured local question
Need to develop a stronger defense against organized, crime, drug, dealing, and human trafficking smuggling. I would do more intensive research on developing a new plan.
Community Question Featured local question
San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the country which surpasses air quality standards better than a majority of the top populated cities in the country. So I would not make any changes to the current policies while strictly monitoring for any changes in our environmental health to take action accordingly.
Community Question Featured local question
Making sure the residence of district 9 have several different way to communicate with me. So I can re-search the information and find out what areas need to be addressed by priority. This will enable me to presented to counsel for the proper funding.needed for infrastructure.
Community Question Featured local question
The law enforcement departments are doing the best job they possibly can. The big problem is criminals, are getting released early for various reasons. This is, were not only the mayor, Councilman, but also the citizens and registered voters to contact their state representative on funding for enlarging prisons, and building correction facilities. To review the police departments tentacle plans on finding different types of crime in hotspot areas. Providing all the proper training facilities created for the law enforcement officers.
Community Question Featured local question
Continue the procedure and protocol that the county and city have coordinated on. San Antonio, I’ve been able to get a handle on the situation very well compared to other major cities in our country.
The opportunity to build a strong bridge of trust between law-enforcement and the understanding each other. If elected I would represent the community of district 9 to expressed their concerns on this and other issues. I’m confident that I can strengthen the bridge between the city and the county. Working with the mayor on reevaluating property, appraisals to help lower property taxes. Another important issue is keeping our children safe at schools. Making sure Police Dept. is well trained on there planned protocol for this type situations.
To be a servant and leader to the community. To be a great listener, problem solver, passion, and caring for the citizens of San Antonio.
The charisma and strength of John F Kennedy, the charm and diplomacy of Ronald Reagan. And the experience of George Bush Sr..
Honesty and integrity! While showing professionalism and diplomacy.
I believe in honesty and integrity. I am not going to play the political games of confusing double talk, and making empty promises. I will be upfront and tell you how I feel on any subject, or question that you may have for me. I will treat you the way I would want to be treated in return, with kindness and respect. Also to think about the comes community first.
To be the servant of district 9 residents. To make sure their voice is heard, and to take action on the community needs.
The legacy that I would like to believe behind me, would be to be known as serving the people of my district and community. That I treated and each and everyone with respect and kindness,

Seeing racism and crime getting worse throughout the years.
Not just serving the needs of your district, but collaborating with the mayor on issues for the entire city of San Antonio.
Not necessarily. It takes the drive, ambition, and the desire to improve the community. One of the big reason why I am running for city council is because I’m a working class citizen just like you who is getting fed up of seeing politicians that are in it for there own personal interests and ego.
I have been working at Bexar County in the Justice Center and Courthouse for over few years now and I know I can strengthen the bridge of communication between the county and city to create increase resolutions for the issues of San Antonio along with the county needs.
Four Catholic ladies are having coffee together, discussing how important their children are. The first one tells her friends, "my son is a priest. When he walks into a room, everyone calls him "Father." The second Catholic women chirps, "Well, my son is a Bishop. Whenever he walks into a room, people say, "Your Grace." The third Catholic woman says smugly, "well, not to put you down, but my son is a cardinal. Whenever he walks into a room, people say, "Your Eminence." The fourth Catholic women sips her coffee in silence. The first three women give her a subtle "Well...?" She replies, "My son is a gorgeous, 6'2", hard-bodied male stripper. Whenever he walks into a room, people say, "My God".
