David G. Larimer is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Western District of New York. He joined the court in 1987 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. Larimer served as the district court's chief judge from 1996 to 2002.

Early life and education

A native of Rochester, New York, Larimer graduated from St. John Fisher College with his bachelor's degree in 1966 and from Notre Dame Law School with his J.D. in 1969.[1]

Larimer was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on May 5, 1987, to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of New York created by 98 Stat. 333. Hearings on Larimer's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on June 18, 1987, and his nomination was reported by then U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) on October 30, 1987. Larimer was confirmed by the unanimous consent of the U.S. Senate on November 5, 1987, and he received his commission on November 6, 1987. From 1996 to 2002, Larimer served as the chief judge of the district court. He elected to take senior status beginning on March 3, 2009. He was succeeded in this position by Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr.[1][2]

Judge Larimer served as a part-time federal magistrate judge on the Western District of New York from 1983 to 1987.[1]
