Engler ran for election to the Seventh District Court of Appeals.
Primary: He was defeated in the Democratic primary on May 6, 2014, receiving 32 percent of the vote. He competed against Anthony Donofrio.

Engler received both his undergraduate and J.D. degrees from Case Western Reserve University in 1982 and 1985, respectively.[3]
Career
Engler maintains his own law practice, Engler & Associates, LLC, in Youngstown, Ohio.[4]
