David Leonard Barnes
David Leonard Barnes was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. He joined the court in 1802 after an appointment from Thomas Jefferson. At the time of his appointment, he was a private practice attorney in Rhode Island. He served until his death on November 3, 1812.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments
District of Rhode Island
Barnes was nominated by President Thomas Jefferson on January 6, 1802. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 26, 1802, and received commission that same day. He served until his death on November 3, 1812. Barnes was succeeded in this position by David Howell.[1]
