David Lewis (Texas judge)
David Lewis was a justice for the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals. He was elected on November 6, 2012, for a term that would have expired on December 31, 2018.[1]
Lewis resigned in October 2016 after almost a year of unpaid leave and a previous year of paid leave. His leaves and his resignation were due to problems with his health, with alcohol, and with depression. The chief justice of the Fifth District filed an affidavit in October 2014 alleging physical and mental unfitness for the judiciary.[2] Lewis agreed to resign in October 2016 in lieu of disciplinary action.[2]
Lewis passed away in October 2017.[3]
Education
Lewis received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. from Baylor Law School.[4]

- Deputy Special Prosecutor of the Dallas Police Department Fake Drug Scandal[4]
Additionally, in 2010, he was the Republican candidate for judge of Texas District 194.
