David M. Murkowski

David M. Murkowski is a probate court judge for the Kent County Probate Court in Kent County, Michigan.[1] Murkowski was appointed to the court by former Governor Jennifer Granholm on August 4, 2006, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Janet A. Haynes.[2] He was then appointed chief judge by the Michigan Supreme Court in December 2007 for a term that began January 1, 2008.[3] On November 4, 2014, Murkowski was re-elected unopposed for another six-year term commencing on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[4]

Education
Murkowski received his undergraduate degree from Marquette University in 1979 and his J.D. degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1983.[5][3]
Career
Before his appointment to the Kent County Probate Court in 2006, Murkowski was a managing partner at the firm of Dilley, Dilley, Murkowski & Goller. He also previously served as a law clerk for the Michigan House of Representatives Civil Rights Committee.[3]
