Smith ran for election to the 15th Judicial District.
Primary: He was successful in the primary on November 4, 2014, receiving 47.8 percent of the vote. He competed against Burleigh Doga, Mike Goss, and Jack Nickel.
General: He defeated Mike Goss in the general election on December 6, 2014, receiving 70 percent of the vote. [1][4]

Education

Smith earned a B.S. from McNeese State University in 1991, going on to receive his J.D. from Loyola University of New Orleans in 1994.[5]
