Gov. Nathan Deal (R) appointed Markle to the court on December 7, 2018, to succeed Judge William M. Ray, II.[1]

Markle was previously a judge on the Fulton Judicial Circuit of the Fifth District Superior Court in Georgia. Gov. Deal appointed him in July 2011.[2]

Education

Markle received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Georgia in 1986. He obtained his J.D. from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1989.[3]

Markle was unopposed for re-election in 2016.[5]

2012

Markle ran for re-election to the Fulton Superior Court.[6] Markle faced challenger Clarence R. Johnson, Jr. in the July 31 election and was re-elected after receiving 54.1 percent of the vote.[7]
