David Michael Ray
David Ray (Democratic Party) was a member of the Indianapolis City Council, representing District 19. Ray assumed office in 2016. Ray left office on January 1, 2024.
Ray (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Indianapolis City Council to represent District 14. Ray lost in the Democratic primary on May 2, 2023.
Biography
Ray is from Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Scecina Memorial High School. Ray received degrees from Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana and Ball State University. His professional experience includes working as an account manager at Miller-Eads Company. He is a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #481, and served a business representative for the group for seven years. He has served on the board of directors of Rebuilding Together Indianapolis and Local 481’s Credit Union.[1]

2015
The city of Indianapolis, Indiana, held elections for mayor and city council on November 3, 2015. A partisan primary election took place on May 5, 2015. The filing deadline for major party candidates who wished to run in this election was February 6, 2015. The filing deadline for independent or minor party candidates was July 15, 2015.[2] Twenty-five city council seats were up for election. Indianapolis's four at-large seats were not up for election, because those seats were scheduled to expire at the end of 2015.[3]
In the Republican primary election for District 19, Benjamin Hunter ran unopposed. In the Democratic primary, David Michael Ray also ran unopposed. Ray defeated Hunter in the general election.[4] Incumbent Jeff Miller (R) ran for election to the District 16 seat.[5]
