David Mills
David A. Mills was an associate justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the intermediate appellate court for the state of Massachusetts. He was appointed to this position by Governor Jane Swift and took office on October 18, 2001. Mills retired in 2012.[1]
Education
Mills received his B.S. degree from Boston College in 1964 and his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1967.[1]
Career
Mills began his legal career as a law clerk to Judge Hugh H. Bownes of the District of New Hampshire. He then became an assistant district attorney in Middlesex County. He joined the Massachusetts Attorney General's office in 1972 as the chief of the criminal appellate section. In 1975, he started his own law practice, focusing on the areas of urban land and municipal government. He worked in this capacity until his appointment to the court of appeals in 2001. Throughout his career, he was a regular presenter for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education.[1]
