My wife, Melody, is a retired banker with 46 years’ experience. She and I incorporated as a General Contractor where we've worked for 25 years until my recent retirement. We've built hospitals, schools, hotels, and most every other form of structure across the Midwest.
I've lived in Arkansas for 46 years; 36 in Grant County, 28 with Melody, and 25 as a commercial contractor. As a non-native, I feel Arkansas in my blood and Grant County is my pulse. I am passionate about workers’ rights, women's rights, motorcycling, and my relationship with my faith. I serve on the Coordinating Committee of the Poor People’s Campaign as well as a board member of B4Me, an African American youth culture/heritage advocacy organization. When I am not building I am serving the community and keeping an eye out for places where I can help.
I am running because I believe our priorities are misplaced and we have lost sight of government's role in protecting our rights, providing for the least of these, and assuring the common good. These things will be my focus when I an elected.
- I believe that workers should share in the record profits CEOs are reaping. I believe that the ‘Right to Work' act (Amendment 34) should be repealed. Unions built this nation; history shows that an organized electorate will always select representatives that speak for 'the least of these'.
- I believe that women's rights and healthcare are human rights and should be enshrined in our constitution. In a nation as wealthy as ours we cannot afford to neglect our responsibilities to the health and freedom of our nation in general and our state specifically.
- I believe that public schools should not be destroyed by a system to enrich the few while making quality education unattainable to the less privileged. Public tax dollars should be spent in public schools, and private schools should be required to meet the minimum standard certification for public school teacher accreditation.
