I am a married Christian carpenter who was born into a family of union members and organizers.
My wife, Melody, is a retired banker with 46 years’ experience. She and I incorporated as a General Contractor where we've worked for 25 years until my recent retirement. We've built hospitals, schools, hotels, and most every other form of structure across the Midwest.

I've lived in Arkansas for 46 years; 36 in Grant County, 28 with Melody, and 25 as a commercial contractor. As a non-native, I feel Arkansas in my blood and Grant County is my pulse. I am passionate about workers’ rights, women's rights, motorcycling, and my relationship with my faith. I serve on the Coordinating Committee of the Poor People’s Campaign as well as a board member of B4Me, an African American youth culture/heritage advocacy organization. When I am not building I am serving the community and keeping an eye out for places where I can help.

I am running because I believe our priorities are misplaced and we have lost sight of government's role in protecting our rights, providing for the least of these, and assuring the common good. These things will be my focus when I an elected.
  • I believe that workers should share in the record profits CEOs are reaping. I believe that the ‘Right to Work' act (Amendment 34) should be repealed. Unions built this nation; history shows that an organized electorate will always select representatives that speak for 'the least of these'.
  • I believe that women's rights and healthcare are human rights and should be enshrined in our constitution. In a nation as wealthy as ours we cannot afford to neglect our responsibilities to the health and freedom of our nation in general and our state specifically.
  • I believe that public schools should not be destroyed by a system to enrich the few while making quality education unattainable to the less privileged. Public tax dollars should be spent in public schools, and private schools should be required to meet the minimum standard certification for public school teacher accreditation.
Human rights; Women's' Rights, Workers' Rights, and Public Education
President Jimmy Carter was the first president for whom I voted. He was an honest, compassionate man who was undone by the Reagan administration's criminal activity to arm the Iranian regime for the release of hostages, sold cocaine to urban men and women and finance the Nicaraguan Contras. President Carter left the office and continued to bring out the best in everyone he met and from those who could only watch.
Honesty and integrity are the foremost characteristics I possess. I'm ruled by compassion and empathy; I am compelled to serve 'the least of these'.
I'm a student of the school of hard knocks who knows that no one rises on their own; when you are born without boots you have no bootstraps with which to pull yourself up. WE must rely on others to lift each other up. I was born into a union family and I fully understand that unity is the true legacy of our nation and WE will overcome if WE come together in freedom and justice.
Aggressively seek out places where government can change this state for the betterment of all and act on it.
I would like to see this state stand as the example of personal freedom and accountability, both in our own lives but in our government as well.
JFK's assignation when I was five scared me deeply, but I was eleven when MLK Jr. and Bobby Kennedy were assassinated which made me realize that the best of us were destined to work the hardest.
At the age of nine I delivered 60 daily papers. My brother joined me two years later to deliver 160 daily papers. I delivered papers until I was twelve.
The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World
By Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Douglas Carlton Abrams
Good, compassionate government requires a good, compassionate legislature. A symbiotic relationship is best, it should reflect the best of the interpersonal relationships of our constituents.
Restoring quality public education is of the utmost importance by repealing any form of vouchering, and requiring private and charter schools adhere to the highest level of public school teacher certification.
Relationship within the party is simple, bipartisan cooperation requires understanding where the parties are coming from and finding a place to begin the work.
How man pancakes does it take to build a doghouse? Nine, because ice cream don't have bones.
within reason. Emergency powers must be strictly defined and adhered to by both the legislature and Executive branches.
Repeal LEARNS Act and replace it with suitable education reform that will lift our students from the debacles of the current administration.
Agriculture and Education
The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act should be restored to it's original form and protected with all vigor.
