David O'Connell (North Dakota)
David O'Connell (b. June 3, 1940) is a former Democratic member of the North Dakota State Senate, representing District 6 from 1988 to 2016. O'Connell served as Senate Minority Leader.
O'Connell served in the North Dakota House of Representatives from 1983 to 1988.
Biography
O'Connell earned his A.A. from Minot State University-Bottineau in 1960. His professional experience includes working as a farmer, operating engineer, airfield clearing operator, engineering aide and president of North Central Electric.[1][2]

O'Connell ran in the 2012 election for North Dakota Senate District 6. O'Connell ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 12. He defeated Pamela Smith (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[7][8]
2008
On November 4, 2008, O'Connell was re-elected to the 6th District Seat in the North Dakota State Senate, besting James Paul Bartlett (R).[9]
