I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 43 years. I still remember the first time I saw. We have two children and six grandchildren. As former president Jimmy Carter would say, I am a Born Again Christian. I believe and follow the teachings and words of Jesus Christ. I believe in freedom. Freedom of all regardless of race, gender, gender identification, sexual orientation and religion affiliation. I believe that Women are NOT second class citizens and I believe in their rights and their pay equality.

I am a member of Maples Memorial United Methodist Church. During my 27 years as a member I have served several volunteer positions and a choir member.

I am a Caucasian Democrat and will remain a Democrat when I take the oath of office.
  • Expansion of Medicaid Expansion of Medicaid – The infant mortality rate in Mississippi is comparable to the rates of Third World Countries. Stop and think about that for a minute. Don’t we as Mississippians Healthcare: MS ranks 6th in the nation of uninsured people. It is estimated that Medicaid Expansion would cover an additional 200,000 people. The expansion would bring over $1 billion in new revenue. The dearth of hospitals in the Delta and other parts of Mississippi affects all Mississippians. There are 70 rural hospitals – 38 of those hospitals are at risk of closing. Of those 38, there are 24 that could possibly close tomorrow. We must save our rural hospitals and offer healthcare for the poor.
  • Elimination of the 7% sales tax on Groceries: Mississippi has one of the highest taxes on groceries at 7% and is simultaneously the poorest state in America. Eliminating the grocery tax, also known as the “tax on life,” would bring much relief to all Mississippians.
  • Fully fund all Mississippi school districts. Our school districts have been shortchanged in their funding. DeSoto County was shorted over $21million in 2023 and over $222million the past 10 years. MS ranks 43rd in Education.
