I am a North Carolina born Democrat, a hard-worker for 41 years as a lawyer and businessman in Statesville. My wife Sally and I raised our family here in North Carolina with three kids, and now four granddaughters. I have dedicated decades to serving the people of North Carolina and my concern for the quality of life and the rights of North Carolinians goes well beyond politics. I live and serve by the Golden Rule of Love Thy Neighbor. I am committed to DOING THE WORK Congress is called to do. I will fight against toxic partisanship and want to support you, no matter your party affiliation.
  • Healthcare - A healthy America is a strong America. We need universal healthcare to make sure everyone has access to COVID testing/vaccines, preventative care, and affordable medication. American's should not be afraid a major health event will land them in bankruptcy.
  • Economics - Our economy is as strong as we are - Americans are the strongest workers on the planet - precisely because of our work ethic, our freedoms and our workforce diversity. In order to maintain the strength of our economy we need: universal basic healthcare, quality and affordable education, green energy and conservation programs, and fair policies that open our economy to all who want to work. The work of Congress is to secure a firm foundation for both the American individual and American national strength.
  • Constitution - America is as strong as each American's Constitutional freedoms - The work of Congress is to uphold the Constitutional freedoms of all Americans: freedom of the press, free elections, freedom of peaceful assembly, and freedom of religion.
I approach policy through the lense of the Golden Rule of 'love thy neighbor.' Respect is the root of the work of American government in general and Congress in particular. I am committed to listening to the needs of my constituents and honestly representing ALL North Carolinians - I will always fight against toxic partisanship. I will support you, no matter your party affiliation. Healthcare (universal basic healthcare), economics (particularly supporting small business and fair pay), and upholding the constitution are at the root of my campaign but I believe strongly that all of these issues are deeply intertwined - healthcare, climate change, race, immigration, business, etc. It all comes back to the Golden Rule.
